PIAA wipers

Purchased a pair of PIAA wipers recently from A-PP.

The driver's side was a Sporza but the spoiler appeared to damaged (see attached image).

Raised this with A-PP and they very promptly sent me a replacement, but it was exactly the same!

I informed them, and this was the response from PIAA, are you ready for this...?
Response from PIAA:
"Unfortunately all the wipers have that mark (small), it is from the mould they use in Japan. Their is nothing we can do to change it. We have sold millions of these and have not had one complaint. i apologies on this occasion.
Many Thanks and Regards,
Joe Roth
"

How crap a response is that...
"small" mark...so that makes it ok, right?
"not had one complaint"...so my complaint isn't valid, right?

I've attempted to contact PIAA directly via their website, but there's no contact number just a form, which I have completed, but my experience of such sites (using forms) is that they rarely receive a response...

I'll let you know.

Meanwhile, you may want to look elsewhere for wiper blades unless you want to fit tat!

That looks bad....I wouldn't accept that, but if they're getting away with it, then good luck to them, i won't be buying from them that's for sure.

ORIGINAL: Mark Bennett

Isn't that on the underside - so normally not visible?
Apologies if I'm looking in the wrong place!

Mark, nope, it's on the top side of the spoiler...I enclose another photo which may shows this a little more clearly...

I may be wrong, but are you sure you've got it the right way round? - normally the spoiler goes on top on wipers.
I haven't seen these in person so I may be wrong...

Mark,

I'm not sure that you're right.
If the spoiler was on the top edge of the wiper it would generate resistance. Also, having checked the passenger side (curved, no spoiler), the top of the rivets (that form the construct of the wiper, excluding the spoiler) are upper most, so if I turned the blade around, the bottom of the rivets would be upper most.

I'll ask A-PP to confirm, just in case I've been a dozy so & so, however, this still doesn't detract from the poor quality manufacturing...

Regards, Neil.

I wonder if Richard knows, as he uses PIAA wipers...

Shouts >>

Yo, Richard...does your PIAA driver's side wiper have a spoiler, and if so is it on the upper or lower edge?

Neil - I don't use the PIAA wipers with the spoiler - just the ordinary ones. I have to say that I don't have any problems with mine. I used them on the 993 where I found them a massive improvement on the Bosch ones, and I'm on my second set on the 996. I think they are great. Sorry I can't help with the spoiler issue.

Thanks anyhow Richard.
I can't disagree that their functional performance is first rate...

Mark, A-PP have replied and said that the spoiler should indeed be on the lower edge (phew!)

Regards, Neil.

Fair enough [:)]

In that case I can only agree the moulding marks shouldn't be there...[&:]
Pity as I was thinking of these as well!

To bring matters to a close, the Customer Service Manager from PIAA has responded to my complaint.

He writes:
"Having looked into this and discussed with colleagues in Japan it is a slight imperfection which they have tried to overcome however when they try to alter the mould they have encountered more marks on the spoiler side that it visible from the front of the spoiler that is even more visible.
As we are the European distributor any reengineering of the products is not within our remit, therefore we are unable to rectify the very small marks"

He thinks my original comments were a little uncalled for... [:D] (got his attention though)

Well, perhaps they should try a little harder with a more professional and more customer focussed response in the first place.
They have offered a full refund (incl postage) if I return the wipers but I've already declined such an offer from APP, after all, functionally they work extremely well
Refund...big wow...that's my minimum entitlement surely...how about engendering a bit of good will by making a gesture such as a partial refund / free wiper...?

oh well...
