Welcome to the world of Porsche.

Ditto, and don't listen to Fen - he knows nothing. White is a great colour; it is easy to keep clean and easy to see, so less likely to get knocked. It is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. It shows up the rust so you can't ignor it and, generaly, just looks nice.

As it's an S2 I have to say 'Do you know if the CAMCHAIN and tensioner have been replaced recently?'
Not the cam belts as all 944s have that worry, but the CAMCHAIN in the head?
S2s are great cars, we've had ours 6 years now and covered over 60,000 miles in it - enjoy []

It has taken me some time to find one and i have been hot and cold as to whether i should get one, but i've done it now !
Diver944 - thanks for mentioning the camchain point. It does need a service and needs the belts doing, as they haven't been done for 40,000 miles. I'm taking it to Specialist Cars in Malton, and will get them to check the camchain.
There are a couple of things i need to get, such as a luggage cover (it doesn't have one) and the towing eye hook is missing from the tool kit. Does anyone know where the best place would be to get these.
Also, this is just a point of warning really, but whilst i was looking in the driver's footwell today i noticed that the carpet to the right of the accelerator was curled out behind the pedal. When the pedal was pushed right down to the floor the carpet curled in front of it, preventing it from springing back !! I'd hate to think what would happen if that happened whilst driving. I've just curled the carpet back so it sits flat now, but it might be something which you should all just check.
i'm probably going to change my login name to something like Alpine (alpine white) as i don't want to be reminded of my SEAT ibiza cupra (which i now need to sell if anyone is interested) every time i log on

You could try Prestige Salvage in Leeds for the luggage cover as those lads have lots of Porsche bit and pieces.

So how many of you Cupra guys use / used to use Cupranet? I spend a bit of time there after having an Ibiza TDi as a flirtation with sensibility a couple of years ago.
Fen - i remember you from seatcupra.net
also slim_boy_fat who i have seen on here i am sure has been on seatcupra.net. My login name was "flash" in those days
by the way, i have now re-named myself Alpine from cupra, which i thought was more appropriate
i will try the breakers in Leeds for the luggage cover - thanks
So do Ibiza owners move to 944's as they have become accustomed to outdated technollogy, or is it that the resale on an Ibiza is so little that all you can afford subsequently is a 15 year old car.
All said with tongue in cheek befor you all start jumping up and down.
I think it's fair to say that most of the Ibiza owners I know of move on to the more "traditional" next step of overrated 4wd mini-cabs / mainstream German cars or other Jap crap. I get the feeling that most of the folks who own them wouldn't countenance a car that isn't new or nearly new. I guess that is understandable because after all the hassle of breakdowns and parts failures that they have become used to with their new SEAT (and I don't suggest SEAT is unique here) they assume it can only be worse with an old car, plus they'd have to pay for it all themselves.
Few used Ibizas are worth more than a decent 944T. For what it's worth I'd buy a Skoda over a comparable SEAT every time nowadays because I think they are better put together and have better dealers, although the Leon FR TDi doesn't have an Octavia equivalent (150 PD engine).

i think you are right that most cupra owners stick to either other hot hatches or jap. rally type cars such as evos or imprezzas.
My last 3 cars were brand new and i have lost a total of £15,000 just in depreciation - and when i think that they were only ordinary cars (saxo, civic and ibiza) which were hardly that exciting to drive, it makes me feel pretty sick
whereas, i now have a old porsche which cost half what a new hatch back would have been, and the only downside is the running costs - but they are worth it !!
