Picked up my New CGTS

Hi Everyone
Picked up my new CGTS from OPC Portsmouth on Saturday, even though I live in Worksop North Notts.
They were the only OPC who could give me such an early delivery when I originally ordered the car first week in January 2015.
Everyone else was quoting 3rd quarter or later 2015
Got to say Sam Cox at Portsmouth was lovely as my sales person
And the car is just awesome..................trying to keep her below 4000 revs for first 2000 miles
Does everyone else do this??
Hope to get to a few meets this year............now I have a porker

cars need to use the rev range other wise you find them hard and lazy to rev later on imo. I would be using 6k revs at 500 miles no load on short bursts. these engine are revy engines , Porsche even state bore scoring was because of people asking too much at low down revs. No motorway work and no steady driving, it's all about wearing parts in changing gear and speed all the time. some say no need, some say keep revs low, some say thrash it from new. only you know what you are happy with, but imo use the revs with no load in shorts bursts.

Great colour choice! Great car choice. Mine is only an S but the handbook doesn't quite say you need to run it in that gently - "During the first 3,000km (1865 miles) you should: Preferably take longer trips Avoid frequent cold starts with short-distance driving whenever possible Do not participate in Club Sport events, sports driving schools or similar events Avoid high engine speeds, especially when the engine is cold" Set the electronic dial on the right hand side of the instrument cluster to the Vehicle setting - you will see when you drive it that it takes about 7 miles from cold for the oil to get up to temperature. Once it is, and only once it is, I would not be shy in exceeding 4000rpm, in fact, without being silly, I would deliberately try to introduce using the rev range, particularly after 500 miles. There is a school of thought that this seals the valves properly or something and means the car won't go on to use oil. Enjoy!

Drive it under light throttle, use the gears and don't labour it. Don't rev high, until it's loosened up min 500 miles. Never pull away at low revs dropping the clutch too quickly. Applying load at low rev's causes heavy wear including scored bores.

Good choice Gary, but then I'm biased having bought one myself last October. I did tend to follow the 4000 limit for 1865 miles and gradually extend to use the full range over the next 1000 miles. The car has been faultless and uses no oil, as with my previous five Porsches... apart from the one that had a replacement short engine after 11,000 miles, but we don't talk about that!
