Picked up my Turbo today

Well everyone picked my car up today and I have to say I love it, this is my 4th Porsche and to be honest I can't fault it, so dam quick, I see a few moans from some about Tiptronic and I can't for the life of me see why, ok there is a slight slur from the box in NON sport mode but in Sport mode it goes like a bat, coming from a Ferrari 430 for 3 years I have to say I adore the Porsche its better built, looks good, not quite as sexy as a Ferrari more "Porn Porsche", Took some photos, sorry if this is the incorrect place to post, but I can't see a section for new members cars (if the mods want please move my post).

As some of you know I took the decision to not buy a GEN 2 car and wait for the GEN 3 which I did yesterday send my letter of intent in, and happy to place a deposit when its released. These are amazing cars, Ferrari owners don't realise how lovely it is not to have to rush to put the car in the garage each night, to pick up 4 people and to not be subjected to Ferrari rip off repair bills. Also this car is certainly as fast if not quicker than the 430, and I reckon it will give a scuderia a run for its money.

PS: Quick Question, I thought the Turbo had LED running lights, but it dont am I missing something?

Congrats on your new steed Martin. I think I'm right in saying the Gen 2 Carreras were the first with LED daytime lights. The Gen 2 turbo has single daytime lights where the fogs used to be.

Congratulations on the new car. Looks very sleek.

I know what you mean about putting the 430 away safely but will let Clive defend the honour of the Scud! On a practical note however, I found with my turbo I had to link it up to life support in the garage at night otherwise if left for a few days it wouldn't start because the Tracker had drained the battery.

Cheers

Correct, the Gen1 Turbo does have LED indicators though [8D] as do the Gen2

Thanks for that ordered a Ctek today on line, better drive it while the nice weather is here....must stop that its a Porsche you can use it in the rain!!!

Jealous- Moi? Midnight Blue- yup, best colour, just like my 997 but just so difficult to keep clean! Do rinse really well, and I use a leaf blower on the discs afterwards because the rust can be unbelievable sometimes. Should have gone for the ceramic brakes... drrrr! All the best.

Congrats. Just to clarify though:

997 Gen 1 Turbo - MY06 to MY08
997 Gen 1.5 Turbo (with the updated PCM) - MY09
997 Gen 2 Turbo (with the new A91 engine and PDK option) - MY10+
997 Gen 2 Turbo S (with the new A91 engine and PDK strandard) - MY11+
991 Gen 1 Turbo - MY13/14 ish

Alex

I thought as far as you were concerned there was no such thing as a 997 Turbo after MY08............[:)]

Congratulations Martin, a beautiful looking Turbo, enjoy. California - Gen 2 Turbo? Not sure now having read the posts from Alan, Nick and yourself [8|]

Thank you, love it, just paying for it to be detailed as I like the paintwork like a virgin through my ownership. Will look forward to join you all on the events, I am usually very active as a past Ferrari and Porsche Owner, Thank you for the leaf blower tip a good one.

Your car looks great Martin-congrats!; I look forward to meeting up with you at a future PCGB event.

Well done and enjoy it seems that 2010 could be the year of the turbo ! be it a Gen1 or Gen 2 or even a Gen 1.5.

Alex

Glad to see from above you have come to terms with a Gen 1.5.

Myself and Rob commented on this, just this week [:)]

also the amount of Turbo owners that do get involved with club events, something that we appreciate on a personal level [:)]
