Picking up my 1st Porsche 911 3.2 Targa on Friday, can't come round quick enough!

Just purchased a 911 Carrera Sport, targa 1988 from Cridfords, really beautiful car, as new bodywork. In Siver with Black 16inch Fuchs. Desperate to get behind the wheel, preying for a dry day! I had a poster of this car on my wall as a teenager!
Car has half leather with slightly faded pinstrip centre, was thinking of changing to full leather, if this is done correctly do you think it will have a negative image on future value? The rest of the car is perfect!

Looking forward to our first club meet,

Cheers Philip

Welcome, you've made a good choice, you've going straight in at the pinnacle of 911 development! :ROFLMAO:
Car looks great, they really are wonderful machines and I'm sure you'll enjoy every mile. Which region are you in?

hi , great choice I always loved the targa and it's now becoming recognised as a superb car. Changing to all leather won't effect the value too much in my opinion. Have a look on impactbumpers.com ideal website for these cars you may find someone selling a good set of seats on there
enjoy the car ??

Here here.

Get some miles on it in Europe, I just came back from a visit to the 6 hour historic race at SPA.

Car was faultless a smile a mile always and playing with a 997 GT3 RS round the back streets it wasn't put to shame, but I probably need surgery!

Hi Phillip, nice car, my first 911 was an 89 Targa, great in the summer. One bit of advice, keep the roof well treated and supple as this helps when folding and unfolding and avoids creases and cracks, and the other thing is rub Vaseline on the seals as this'll stop it squeaking, that's two bits of advice .
Seat wise, full leather is ok but with no aircon it can get uncomfortable. The early 3.2 s used to have some amazingly lurid upholstery patterns, I used to hate the swirly checkered ones but now I love them, and quite sought after now.
Enjoy the car and as already said, welcome.
regards
Graham

Hi Phil, from memory, I used Autoglym Vinyl and rubber care. Regularly. Another tip, sounds mad but to keep the roof bar looking nice and not too shiny, ....I know it sounds a bit mad, but you can use smooth peanut butter ! Just a slight rubbing. Did this at a concourse years ago, bloke next to me looked at me with raised eyebrows........ I won.

Hi Philip & welcome to the heady heights of owning the REAL 911 !! [:D]

Out of interest, what colour combination of seats do you have & are you thinking of getting them re-trimmed or replaced? Reason for the question is that my 86 has the blue interior with half leather & pinstripe velour inlays. I may be interested in taking your seats if you were thinking of replacing them as oppose to re-trimming them. Just a thought.

Good luck & enjoy.

Fleety.

that's hilarious! looks like am amazing car!
Yes it sure was, wish I'd been able to keep it, show car ,totally original,30k miles, full burgundy leather interior 1989, one of the last. It was too good to use really, I shudder to think what it'd be worth today. I sold it to an accountant in Kent ?? As I needed money to rethatch my house as my lovely wife had bugged off and took me to Sketchleys.
I keep meaning to try and trace it, F174CKH if anyone sees it.
fond memories..........

Beautiful car mate and I think it's the coolest colour combo. If you happen to see another one please let me know as it's adzactly what I'm looking for. Enjoy

That will be the best purchase youll ever make I have had my 1989 carrera 3.2 for 4years now it still excits me now and youll never get bored. Enjoy.

I've also had my '89 for almost 4 years now - it always gives me a smile when I look at it in the garage and an even bigger grin when I drive it.

Changing to leather will probably increase the value as long as you do it in period
Hope to see you on July 14th at Weymouth Porsches on the Prom with a lot of 3.2 variants
Paul
