Picnic at Sledmere House Sunday 19/8/07

As mentioned in Porsche Post and at the last Club Night meeting we will be having a picnic at Sledmere House near Driffield on Sunday 19th August. Unfortunately, the Regional budget won't allow us to provide picnic food so you'll have to bring your own! The event will also include our 'show and shine' competition (for Yorkshire members only) which was postponed in July, the prize for which is a remote controlled GT3 Cup car kindly donated by Porsche Centre Leeds. We are hoping that Glyn O'Donnell will do the judging for us on the day.

We have arranged to meet for coffee at The Owl in Hambleton (where we hold our Club Night meetings) at 11.00 am and will be leaving for Sledmere at 11.30 prompt. We will take the quieter roads to Sledmere (suggested route to be confirmed on the day) and will aim to get there around 12.30.

We have been allocated an excellent picnic area near to the main house and will be allowed to use a separate entrance gate, opposite The Well (a dome shaped building at the side of the main road through the village), rather than the normal public entrance. The gate will be manned by a Yorkshire Region member (probably me, unless I can persuade someone else to do it!) until 1.00 pm to meet any late arrivals. If you do arrive after 1.00 pm could you please ensure that you close the gate after you so that it is not used by other members of the public.

Admission will be at a discounted rate of £10 per car which allows access to all Sledmere attractions. Sharon and I will collect the money and obtain the tickets once we have all parked.

If anyone requires any further information about this event, please e-mail me at r7@porscheclubgb.com.

Looking forward to some good weather for this event and to seeing everyone on the day.

Thanks Ian & Sharon for organising the day (you know we all appreciate your efforts!), great fun as ever despite the dodgy weather.

We even managed to make it to the petrol station without running out! [;)]

Thanks Ian for organising the picnic at Sledmere - the rain held off until we left at 3 p.m. was poor all the way back to the coast. Was good to catch up on the news from everyone.

Thanks to everybody who turned out today and to Doug for the photos. The weather did its best to spoil things but the diehard Yorkshire members won out in the end as it remained dry at Sledmere.

Nice venue, and some decent driving roads on the way (although I'm still worried as to whether we passed the radar trap in Newton on Derwent at more than 30 mph!). I think we'll put it on the calendar for next year to give those who decided not to brave the rain the chance to visit.

Thanks again.

Ian and Sharon

Many thanks to both Ian and Sharon for organising the day--some super driving roads--except for the one with the guy with the radar gun! Thoroughly enjoyed the day and the rain held off for most of our trip back.

Having trouble uploading a couple of photos--will do so in a later post.

Best wishes

Steve
