Hello all,

just thought i would share some pics from my race 924S. Its not a 944 but i thought you might be interested since there are loads of wheels pics combinations just for the fun of it ;)

I am installing a wide arch kit and 7, 8x15 Fuchs.
The reason is: 3,0 S2 engine needs more traction

Here is the build. Not ready yet

Do you like ?

Here is before pics with 931 wheels

the wide arch conversion begins. we need to cut the fenders so the wide Fuchs fit under the flares. We plan to make a replica of the Lemans 924 turbo look

Good looking project! I imagine the S2 power train makes quite a difference. For me - the Cooker Cutters really fit the car. The 931 wheels can't really be seen in the photos so can't really say. The D90s actually look pretty good although I'm running those on my red S2 so perhaps a little biased. To my eye - the Fuchs need the backgrounds blacked out at least or perhaps the spokes as well - polished rims optional. Nice to be able to try them all...

Hello Bruce, thanks. Its quite a car now with the 3,0 S2 engine. If only 924S was always like that... On the other hand the car was seriously undertyred with 195 15s that i put on the 931 wheels, so I needed some more tyre on the back as wel as wider wheels (8x15). The only way to fit these was with the wide flares

I like the look of the car, but wasn't it the Group 4 rally bodywork rather than the Le Mans? on my 924S race car, I went from the 16x 9 that the car was bought with to 15 x 8 as it handled far better that way. The 15 x 8s fit without wheel arch extensions.

Ofcourse you're right... For some strange reason I wrote Lemans instead of Montecarlo. These were probably also used in Gr.4 but am not sure. The 225/50-15 on Fuchs come out a lot on my car so it's necessary to do all that work. I also like them so its a win win for me :)

I rather like it. It heralds back to the days of classic motorsport when rivets and duct tape were standard modifications. Unless you are a complete information sponge/geek there is no way of spotting one refinement from one race to another in today's top class motorsport.

I like it too. I also agree some portion of the Fuchs need to be black. I also agree that 15" 931 wheels don't work when you have a later set up with a heavier front ARB, my 2.7 came to me with them and you could feel the tyres being twisted off the rims! Looking forward to more pics....

Thank you for your kind comments Here's some progress Car is now resprayed and is getting assembled. Here are some pictures where you can see how we had to cut the wings to create some clearance for the wide 7 and 8x15 Fuchs

I know that many of you will say that i shouldnt have cut the fenders. Remember that this is a racecar with a 944 S2 engine. It begs for traction compared to the 924 turbo 6x15 that i used on the back Lost it a bit under braking here....

Well yes. You are right. I believe they where pearl white actually. I still have not decided on the Fuchs centre colour. I am thinking of puting some stripes (black) across the bonnet roof and bumpers. Something like Porsche Design Edition as these
PorscheDesignEdition1_zps1c420536.jpg
[/img] In that case i will paint them black

We are getting there. Still not decided what colour to paint Fuchs. Might got for black (safe) of white (pearl) Here how she looks with flares assembled after painting.

I like it - looks purposeful, and not just another CGT copy Black Fuchs (centres) gets my vote

Never mind. Not everyone 'gets' everything 924. I'm 50/50 with white or black Fuchs. Silver isn't too bad either. I've liked the rallye arches for a quite a while, even considered them more than once for my car. But alas I don't think they will work with two tone paint. I also don't want to cut the rear arches permanently otherwise I would have at least tried them out. Are you going to sort the suspension and get the wheels tucked in and lowered a bit more?

Hello Steve. Thank you for your comments. Iam also not sure these flares would look nice on a two tone 931. Maybe they will. Try them out and post some pictures :) :) :) I have installed Gaz coilovers all around so am gonna lower it afterwards and check out clearance Looks quite high now. Don't really like it that way.

Love it. Wouldn't it be a great car to enter in a fancy concours event? [:D] We need to ressurect the "Rat Pack" 944 group. All about driving, rather than polishing.
