Here's the pics of my Leda rear shock failure - not pretty [:-]

They will be on their way to Gaz for a rebuild or replacement this afternoon.

Interestingly, I dug out an old bill from 2002 - Looks like the car had a similar failure & was rebuilt with spacers between the bottom mounts & the bushes (you can see the remains of the bush + the spacers in the top right of the first pic.)

Gaz will put new offset bottom mounts on both shocks (f the shocks are worth rebuilding)

Flip me - that's a mess!

Broke on the rebound, clearly. That is meant to be the adjustment that matters ...

Gaz are presumably rebuilding for less than the cost of new items?

Oli.

They arent the same company. Leda isnt the same company that it was: they were re-born in Ashbourne in West Derbyshire (theyve recently moved again I believe), but they werent interested in rebuilding original Leda kit any longer(one of its strongest selling points). GAZ is a completely separate compnay, but they have a number of original Leda employees and theyre happy to re-build old Leda shocks.

Let's not assume Gaz have anything to do with the failure - they are doing me a favour by rebuilding another firm's product (the other firm never returned my voice message)
The Gaz shocks have a different design for their bottom mounts.

It's not the only Leda failure I've heard of - I think Dave Malings had problems with his.

Mind you - I've had far more expensive things break on the car than this....

Yes his snapped at the bottom mount as well. It was different to yours though, yours looks like it has rusted through over time, his was a clean break on a shock less than a year old [] They replaced it no questions asked [:)]

They look quite different from mine, not sure if that's because they're an earlier design or because I have helper springs though.
Please keep us updated of the progress Ed.
