Pioneer Bluetooth + I POd Adaptor

Hi

I have just got a secondhand Pioneer DEH 70BT and I Pod adaptor.

I know some of you are using this unit due to it having Bluetooth phone integration and also the I Pod connection kit that can be fitted.

Two questions really, where have you found the best place for microphone position for handsfree part of the equation. Near the interior light or on the A Pillar?

And the I Pod adaptor. Is there room below the stereo (behind the cubby hole hole thing below) or is it too tight? Or will I have to velcro it into the glove box and run the cables there. Currently had cable to I Pod running into armrest.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Cheers

Lee

You want the Mic as far away from any noise as possible (not easy in a car!) Interior light is a favourite. You could also expiriment with clipping it to one of the air vents beside the instrument cluster, but the noise of the air rushing past may be a problem. You could also try somewhere on the centre console.

hey , i have an i pod adapter fitted with my alpine unit, tis genius but quite big, i fitted the adapter next to my ecu, in the passenger footwell, in mine there is a wooden board(the angled bit where youd rest your feet) behind the carpet which is velcroed to the wood which can be pulled out and theres quite a bit of space behind it, lots of wire tucked away too, works a treat, hope this the same with yours,

oh and i have the pod in glovebox, the hole in the back was just big enough for it to push through without any mods!!

How do these interfaces work? Do you get full menu-browsing functionality? I'm looking at an Alpine unit where th iPod plugs directly into the back of the head unit without one of these adaptors so I assume they will work just as effectively.

my alpine headunit is a cda-9847/r and the interface is kca-420i these came in one big box, it says on box amongst lots of other stuff, control within reach, quickly search and listen to your ipod tracks directly from your head unit, even use aa remote control, etc, so you can browse through yours playlists etc but i find it slow and not easy to use when driving so tend to make all my tracklists out on the computer in house then simply have the pod set to play these, then plug n play. It maybe that my searching could be slow simply cos there like 3500 tracks on there and to be honest i havent had much chance to play/ learn to use it that well but i do love it hidden in the glove box and the cable tucked away inside. Got to rush off for now, hope this useful

That is useful thanks. It's got to be better than controling the iPod directly via the clickwheel. The clickweel is a fantastic interface under normal circumstances but not in a car where you need a tactile interface so you can keep your eye's on the road and only glance away from the road occasionally.

The 9850Ri that your looking at Scott has "full speed" i-pod, so should be faster than the external unit used on the rest of the Alpine range at the mo.

Just throw the Pioneer iPod adapter in the bin (actually eBay it) it's unmitigated rubbish. The Alpine one is in a different league (I have had both).

If you want click wheel-esque iPodding then get a Drive+Play from Harman Kardon - it's a nice bit of kit which I used in the hearse until I gotr intergrated Alpine iPod on the TV screen.
