Pirelli P Zero Rosso rear tyres

Due to the current draught on the Porsche approved tyre sizes I have bought some 245/40/17's for the rear of my C2.
I was hoping to put them on my 8J 17 inch Cup 1 rims.

I know the official fitment was 255/40/17 but will a slightly narrower tyre be ok to fit? They are P-Zero Rosso's just not the recomended width.
I drive my car on road and track so if there are any real dangerous issues I need to know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

looks like the guy sold out.. he did have 12pairs for sale a couple of weeks ago (this his user name was something like "east_coast_tyres")... they were 250 plus delivery for a pair, so the ones you found were cheaper anyway!..

Ahhh yes I did speak to East Coast tyres.
I'm just glad I found one - would have killed me to change all four tyres needlessly.

Thanks anyway.
