Pirelli P Zero shortage?

Boxster Spyder

New member
Having recently sustained a non repairable puncture in my Spyder's O/S rear, I was advised by my OPC (Chester) that there is a general shortage of these tyres, consequently there is a chance that the OPC will need to repalace all the tyres on the vehicle for another make.

Thankfully I have the Posche Tyre Insurance that covers the costs of the tyre that have been damaged, (well most of it) I understand the costs for repalcing the other 3 may need to be met by Porsche, Pirelli and potentially the insurer!

So my vehicle is languishing in OPC Chester awaiting news of what they are going to do. Rest assured I will be reviewing what they are proposing to fit - checking my N-ratings of course!

In the meantime I am being deprived of some open top touring in a nice bit of sunshine! I am reduced to driving a car provided and equivalent vehicle - as provided by Porsch Insurance (via Enterprise) a Merc C Class.. hardly equivalent!

What a carry-on!

Just by way of an update, due to the shortage of Pirelli's they will fit Bridgestones, 2 at their cost, one covered by Insurance and the other I need to stump up for as it is worn to 3mm!

The OPC say that they can't allow this back obn the road.. This amount of wear I find unbelieveable on a car that has done only 6k miles from new!!

Mine was fitted with the Bridgestones from new, I have no issues with them. At 7k miles there's a fair bit more than 3mm left on them too.

Mental note to self, must try harder [:D]

Hope you enjoy your Spyder and make maximum use of the Conway tunnels - my Dad lives in Deganwy and I always do a quick detour when visiting!
