still getting to know where everything is on my car, it would help if it wasn't pitch black in side at night.

is there ment to be any lighting?? if not is it possable to put any in??

There should also be a light down the left side of the boot opening, one in the glove box and one under the bonnet. The bonnet ones are particularly temperamental (and only work if the lights are on and the bonnet is open).

There's also one in the middle of the headlight switch - does that work.....?

There should be an interior light betwean the sun visors ?

PS Hello Newby here !

yes, but it goes off as soon as you close the door. i can't see where the switches (or anything else for that matter)are while im driving along.[]

again i have all these but they don't help see the interior of the car while im driving along.. i need something to illuminate the switches

while cleaning the ashtray we did find a light but can't seem to get it to work.

Dash lights:

Instruments - 3 bulbs with reflectors that degrade and can make them work badly. Search for posts by Flamingeye on here for a kit to improve things
Heater area - both knobs and all 2 or 3 buttons light up as do the sliders and the scale between them. Also the windscreen graphic between the central air-vents is illuminated.
Clock - lights with ignition, dims when the lights are turned on
Switches - only the central locking switch in the centre console is illuminated. The fog light switches (and I think rear demister?) and headlamp knob all have individual bulbs
Ashtray - illuminated

I think all my 944s (certainly all but the '86 Turbo) have a courtesy delay on the interior lights. My S2 coupe had this overridden when i had an alarm installed, but I got the installer to fix that.

Fen now waiting for the flood of "I didn't know that was supposed to light up!" posts...

thanks sounds like we have some work to do on the electrics then. at the moment none of these lights are working appart from the one showing the instraments which is a very faint glow.[:-]

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum.

Helen,

The interior light and boot light have a three position switch on the right hand side which will turn the light on when the doors are shut - not that they seem to produce a great deal of light. I did see a posting recently for an LED interior bulb replacement - I don't know if that would help things.

Welcome to the "I wish I could see my center consol switches" brigade. This is something that most of us have pondered at length. No body yet has found acceptable replacement illuminated switches and some have mounted little LED spot lamps to shine on the switches.

In reallity perhaps the only centre consol switch you might use that frequently is the rear wiper so I swapped mine over so that it is on the far right. Now I can find it easily in the dark.

Ah.... I have just replaced the under bonnet one and it didn't work.[8|]
I did try it with the igition on but not with the lights on though.

Just got my Flaming eye kit today in Ocean Blue so now I shall be able to see the dash.
Good turn around from Darren as I only ordered it on Wednesday.

Helen,

Is the brightness adjuster to the left of the steering wheel turned all the way up?

All my heater controls are invisible if it is turned right down, with only a faint glow for the instruments.
