hi

having read about the 964 in this months 911 Porsche World I am interested in the idea of the plastic fuel tanks that these cars have

Can they be bought second hand, or failing that new and do you know if they would fit an earlier car, a 2.7 Carrera 1975 to be precise

thanks a lot
Jonathan

I assume they can be bought, but would be surpised if they fit an earlier car.

You may be better off going to a specialist such as ATL: www.atlltd.com/

in most early 911's the tank is built in lower down the chassis (some have the spare wheel "moulded"into them) than in the 964. So no as Mel has said. I'm sure it could be made to fit but the cost would far outway the advantages.

thanks for the replies, have gathered via the DDK forum the bulhead is different as a result of the 4WD system, which ties in with your advice

oh well, just have to fix the old steel tank......

I have at the back of my mind the idea that plastic tanks were available in the days of the original 2.7 RS. If true almost certainly expensive but it might be worth a question on the Early 911 forum.

Look in the back of classic car magazines -I'm sure there are companies that can re-line tanks.
