Plastic nuts for undertrays

Hi

I've had the gearbox undertray off for cleaning/adjustment and ordered some of the plastic nuts to replace the old ones.
When trying to fit the actual studs that the nuts fix to are 17yrs old and corroded, therefore I can't get a decent grab on it.
Is there anything else commonly available to use instead of the plastic nuts to fix the undertray back on??

Thanks

Rob

Rob, my tray doesn't use plastic nuts. There are nut/spring clip combinations that attach to the stays that support the tray and then bolts to attach the tray to these.

I've only seen the plastic nuts used on things like the sills and sharks fins.

Mine has plastic nuts and a couple of M5 (I think) bolts on the gearbox cover;the main tray uses the SS captive nuts and M5 SS bolts-rather expensive. You could use a Loctite thread sealant of the Gap filling type with the plastic nuts and tighten a little more when it's gone off.Always use copperease on the SS nuts.
