PLASTIC ON YOUR BONNET!

Leaving aside the specific thread on 'Paintshield', could any please give me a wholly (or largely) unbiased view on whether it's better to get a new 997 covered in some kind of plastic stuff or just leave it as is. Also, is it really going to make a difference to obsess on products like 'Zymol' & what seems to me like a touch of OCD: i'm buying my car to drive and know from experience that after the first few weeks, the only wash it's going to get is at the local hand-wash place from the boys with the jet wash & sponge, despite my best initial intentions.

Many thanks.

Paintshield/Armourfend and the 'zymol' obsession may appeal to a different audience.

If you just want to use and enjoy your car, with the occassional 'wash & dry', then these 'plastic' coatings may give you comfort that the underlying paintwork is protected from some damage.

But, if polishing is your thing, then you would probably be happier without it.

Armourfend worked for me. Just about to have it all replaced on a '98. Worth every penny IMO.

If you insist on using the local hand wash then don't bother - protecting your bonnet is pointless if they scratch the rest of the car.

If you hadn't guessed i'm from the Zymol OCD club [:D][:D][:D][:D]

I would agree totally with the coment above as the rest of the car will be covered in swirl marks and the protected area won't be, will look a bit sad if you ever take the film off IMHO. Best way is to dump the Local car wash brigade or just accept in about a year it is going to look hammered.

Don't sell ZYMOL but would have if I was in that business :)
