Plastic scuttle cover

Guys,

My plastic scuttle cover (one at the base of the windscreen that covers the blower motor) has a small crack in it - that I gues may get bigger - and as the car is being used daily and kept outside - want to make sure its all ok..

So - are these easy to change??

And where can I get a new one - is that a Porsche dealer item or are here websites out there selling these parts?

Cheers Anthony

Definitely get it from your local OPC: itll be a fraction of the price that a skanker like Porscheshop will be selling it for!

Doddle to change Anthony,
I bought a 968 one of Porsch-a-Part slightly different and needed a little piece cutting out but looks no different from new.

Thanks chaps - I take it I can call a Porsche dealer and order for delivery can I ? - and they still do them for the 944 also?

is it a wiper arms off job - or do they just clip in place?

Thanks people - fantastic form BTW - lots of great people with great knowledge..

As in faqs, always call Chris at Exeter PC first. He keep a huge stock of 944 parts, and offers a good discount to Club members.

All PCs are worth checking first, often parts are dealer-only and e-bay or after-market sellers just mark them up. A good example is the armrest hinge, last one I bought was £9 delivered from Exeter, but over £20 plus P&P from e-bay and some specialists. Always do the research.

Paul just beat me to it.

I was about to say try the Exeter centre first as they are very 944 knowledgeable and friendly - 01392 822800

I bought one a few months ago from my local OPC for £40. There were none in stock in the UK and it had to be ordered from Germany. To fit it properly you should remove your windscreen wipers and the nut and washer under the wiper arms, or you can simply use scissors to install if you don't want to remove the wiper arms. Easy job either way.

Hi there, This is my first ever post on the forum.I've owned 944's for the last 15 years( 1 lux then two S2's)
Anyway, I needed a scuttle cover a few months back, & found one on ebay, the seller seems to have a few in stock. Item number: 150347972066.
It's pricey(£58.95),but it could be a last resort for you.
It fitted my S2 perfectly and seemed to be an original part.
Hope this helps

Hello Darren,

And welcome to the fray - sounds like another example of check with your OPC first for 'rare' parts prices. Smaller items they will post free and club members get a discount too.

Funnily enough, I was going to post this as a suggestion of the flimsiest part on a 944, and then was reminded of the other 2 ......the thinnest bit of plastic facing behind the heater sliders or the little circular vent for the climate control - but that's because I managed to break both whilst replacing the ciggie lighter - Doh! :ROFLMAO:

Thanks Richard,
I've not used an OPC for a long time,I didn't think they would still be interested in our model.looks like they are worth a try.
Cheers

As always, see faqs. PCs are always worth a try, it's only a phone call. Exeter are the best for 944 parts, and there is a Club Member discount as well.
