Platinum edition

After ten plus years of 911 ownership and sports car brand change last summer before the new 991 turbo s was common and now an active race enthusiast and participant in my 968, I am about to join the Cayenne 'team' as I fancied a change from the X5. Got an acceptable deal on the switch and now just waiting a couple more weeks for it to arrive.

Any owners of these models on the forum?

I have the diesel as am not a big supporter of fast 4x4 big engined blinged SUVs......they are more for me about comfort and long distances with lots to carry or tow.

The second generation Cayenne has been a remarkable success for Porsche and it really is a first class luxury SUV that is surprisingly fun to drive, yet very practical and amazingly economical.

Presumably you are aware that the 'Platinum' is a run-out model, with the a new 'facelift' model due out in a few months?

Yes which is why I got it below list with a sensible trade in on the x5, also the new update is little more than that with visual aspects very similar from what it shows on line and in the forums, unlike the real replacement Cayenne due in a couple of years.

Yes, been an owner for a number of years now and the diesel for eighteen months. In it's sector it's a great option IMO. Plenty of grunt from the diesel but I do miss the V8 if not the fuel bill that went with it.

There's a solution to that - the V8 S Diesel, I've seen up to 38mpg and it feels faster than a 911 Carrera!

A year on and I could sell it for what I paid for it - it's that good / in demand

My Cayenne S diesel gets 31mpg in day to day driving, compared to the Range Rover 2012 4.4 diesel which managed 28mpg and was slower but drank more.

I've had my petrol V8 Turbo for 2 months and average 17mpg but I don't care as the smile it puts on my face is worth 10-12mpg any day [:D]

Picked it up on Saturday from new and just 125 miles on clock now but what a great car...spot on for what I want it for...the fast car in the garage for the moment I need it!

Hope you can help have been looking at platinum edition as looks to be good value against nearly new cars on forecourt. However can't find equipment list anyone help.

Also have driven previous version of RRS SDV6 (MY10) which was a noticeable improvement in handling (but not power) on my current 56 reg RRS supercharged and may be an alternative. Any comparison experience appreciated.

Looks like you get a few extras featured here;

Compared with the RR Sport, the handling of the Cayenne is in a different league. A lot of people like the RR for other reasons; 'Britishness', quality of interior, looks etc but once you've driven a Cayenne it really highlights the Sport's shortcomings as a drivers vehicle. Try one a see is my only recommendation.

That may be so Peter but i could show some very embarrassing
Pics of my KN stuck in snow by the ski lift in Meribel .
