Spent 3 hours today applying wax and sealant to a Ferrari F340 today on my drive whilst the Turbo S sulked in the garage, belongs to a work colleague (single guy no kids or mortgage)
What a horny car !
Sorry about that, the guy is a liscensed track day instructor we went for a blast in "Race Mode" with all the electronic gadgetry knocked off, lots of sideways stuff............................Wicked.
Won't mention any speeds here but you can of course take a decent guess and i bet your not far off.
Still, i would have a 996 Turbo with an MSD kit (550 BHP) and stick the remaining 40 grand in the bank !

Landy's are brill when you have 2 dogs, 2 kids and a house that is high maintenance and requires lots of trips to the tip, plus i live in the lakes and we get some pretty crappy weather, but the best place on the planet when the sun shines [:D]
Beleive it or not it does 25 mpg knocking about and on a run will do late 30's sitting at 75/80 on the motorway and is very spacious and comfy.

I went on one of those Ferrari days in a 360. They also had 996 turbo's. The instructor I spoke to said the 996turbo was a much quicker car, especially in the wet and a hell of alot easier to drive. I wish he'd told me that before so I could have exchanged my voucher. I wasn't that impressed with the Fezza at all. I realise the 360 is not the best car ever to have come from that stable, but it wasn't that fast, didn't feel that special and the interior, well, lets just say i've seen better build quality in a TVR! Considering their price and running costs compared to a 996TT you'd have to have had a partial lobotomy to choose one of these over a 911TT.

spooky I was just dreaming about Ferrari's last night. I was extremely disappointed by the F430 spider when I was lucky enough to go out in that and then the 997 turbo back to back. The Ferrari's exhaust note just sounded fake inside the car (lovely outside) and the 997 would have comprehensively blown it away.

On top of that I felt insecure in the Ferrari at 60 because you could feel the chassis twisting and flexing as you turn from one way to the other. I've heard the coupe is a lot better but the spider is definitely a posers car when compared to the 997. Not to mention the difference in quality of the 997 which by some odd marketing is nearly half the price!?!

My favourite Ferrari of all time is probably the 250 gt for that shape and ohh god the sound is good! Unfortunately others tend to agree with me so it has become the kind of ridiculous car that millionaires dream of. In the real world if I were ever to buy a Ferrari it would be the 355. It's the most unimpressive looking car of the lot in the flesh and attracts next to zero attention nowadays so doesn't fit the usual Ferrari bill but the exhaust note is an eargasm of high octane thrills and the interior is pure road racer. Those old fashioned circular dials and the fixed gate 6 speed manual box. It's just exactly what I want from a sports car.... unfortunately I will probably never have one because the badge and reliability put me off. If I have 60k to spend it'll be a gt3 (for the drive) or 993tt (for the beauty) in my garage.

Doh! it was a 430 manual that's how excited i was l lovely car but as previous post a well fettled 996 would tick my boxes..................mind you i would still have one for the noise should Camelot give me a cheque.
It would be parked in amongst some serious pork.

Dear god extremely sorry I just discredited one of my favourite cars of all time (made more so by trying to keep up with one in a 944 and losing badly when he lit up the rear tires at 120mph and squirmed the car across almost three lanes to recover the flick of the tail on the motorway leaving me eating dust and sound waves with a BIG smile on my face) the F40 is probably the road car I would like to drive most. The digital and precisely measured Carrera GT just doesn't come close to that for me.

Yep, sights like that are impressive. No matter how fast we think our 944's are it is impressive at just how much faster true supercars are. I had a similar experience whilst following a 996TTx50. We were tanking along at 70ish mph I was pretty much on full throttle and he just planted it and took off as if I was standing still with an exhaust note that stood the hairs on the back of my neck on end. Wanted one ever since!
