Hi, I have a a late 1970s 911 Targa with a turbo body.

I took it to a garage a couple of years ago to have it resprayed and a few jobs done .. and well ... long story BUT i got screwed.
After going through lawyers i eventually got my car back but it wiped me out financially at the time and have had to park the project now.

I have a few things that need to be sorted out on the car

Targa roof repaired (they ripped it only a small tear) Including brocken one handle
spoiler (the rubber part now needs replacing where they have damaged it
side fins look like they have been attached with a black sealant (very messey)

engine needs looking at not running right doest always start
electric window motor needs replacing its now burnt out
window wipers don't work at the moment (electrical issue i'm sure nothing worked when i first got it back e.t.g lights horn i got most of it working)

i am obviously very cautious now about taking it anywhere and so i am looking for recommendations of where I can have my car repaired at a reasonable price.

Sorry to hear this - sounds like you have taken it somewhere that does not care about these works of art (whoops cars).

I don't know your area but there will be good small Porsche specialist independents in your area and either someone will pop up on here and suggest (presumably Tuthills is one) - or it may be worth going along to your local region meeting and chating to a few people who have had this type of work done.

I agree with Mark - let the forum know which area you live in and chances are someone may know someone who might be able to help.

Thanks all for your help and advice so far i am from the West Midlands area.
I live only a few miles from Birmingham City Centre if that helps

I think i need somewhere that specialises both in body work and mechanics...

I can't think of any in the West Mids, but there's quite a few towards Leicester that cater for the more classic models and restoration.

EMC Motorsport are in your area (Saltely in Birmingham) who will at least be able to deal with the mechanicals of your car. I know that they know a painter too which they use frequently.

As a final person to try, PCT don't seem to be too bad but I myself have not used them.

PCT are good, use them for my 996, but dont know if this is their preffered type of work i.e. older models / restoration, but they are totally honest and if they are going to do the work they will, if they arent they will tell you before hand if you know what i mean.
