This message is intended to make clear what will be happening with R10 Monthly Meetings from now on.

We had an attendance of 44 members at the Porsche Experience Centre on the March meeting. It was very good to see such a turnout, but as I have asked before I need to know numbers in advance.
However, this was after I had informed the Centre (out of courtesy to them) of half this number of members who had informed of their attendance by the "˜deadline' (one week in advance of the meeting).

This has exceeded the reasonable agreed limit that the centre has offered us, due to members either not being aware or more specifically not taking any notice of my previous communications - I had at least 8 members who informed me too late (less than 1 week before the meeting) others who just turned up, and one who actually phoned me as I arrived at the meeting on the day!

This is an unworkable situation for the Centre, so I will have to repeat again what is essential from now on:

1 You will have to inform me directly if you wish to attend the meeting, each month - stating Name, Membership number and Number of people attending (i.e driver and if partner attending, not just the car!).

2 If you wish to attend the meeting, I need to know specifically, for EACH meet, please, beforehand (at the very latest one week before the meet) - a definite list of people attending will be held and I will endeavour to inform you if anything has to change. Please note: you will have to be able arrive for the latest of 1.30pm on the day, please. We can venture up to the refreshment area (upstairs) after 1.45pm, please after which members should take their their tea or coffee downstairs usually to the conference room for the meeting at 2.15pm

3 This is very definitely a "˜first come, first served' list for each meeting, and if the quota for the month is "˜full' you will unfortunately be unable to attend.

4 I need all the stated information above (in red), so the list can be made - this will refer specifically to each next meeting.

5 Please inform me directly (as below), not just casually on the forum.

6 If you decide to just turn up at the Experience Centre on the day and are not on the specific list, you will unfortunately be unable to attend .

You can contact me preferably via r10@porscheclubgb.com to enquire as to attending, or if necessary via my contact numbers in "˜Porsche File'.

You all know by now that I'm always very happy to see enthusiastic members attending - please do not be offended if you cannot be accommodated due to high numbers wishing to come.
I hope everyone appreciates why this has to be said again in black and white.
Any queries on this, contact me, please.

The next meeting is 5th April 2014... over to you... I will post on here when the capacity has been reached for the appropriate month

PS I'm very encouraged by the enthusiasm now being shown by region members for new events and suggestions/help, etc - thank you for your thoughts and help![:D]
We can make things work and have a great time together and with our great cars - that's the main intention![;)][:)]

Hi Paul Great meeting today Please put me on the list for 5 April Will also email Many thanks Nigel (61634)

Potential attendees need to contact me directly, not just through forum[;)]. Thanks for the email, Nigel.

Paul, "This is very definitely a ‘first come, first served’ list for each meeting, and if the quota for the month is ‘full’ you will unfortunately be unable to attend." Surely this is an unacceptable restriction on members. Time, I think, to look for an alternative venue. Jeff

Hi Paul Email sent Agree in some respects with Jeff's comments, perhaps we can put it on the agenda for next months meeting, to get some feedback on how other members are feeling. Regards Andy

Your opinion, of course - but this is how it is at the moment.[;)] Entirely up to you to do as you think fit, in your own interest.
Agree in some respects with Jeff's comments, perhaps we can put it on the agenda for next months meeting, to get some feedback on how other members are feeling.
A good idea, Andy - perhaps we’ll get a bit more positive input in response.

Paul, My original comment was not intended to be negative but rather to promote some debate on the forum. Indeed, it's to your credit that you've managed to secure the PEC for our meetings and, having attended many meetings at the Silverstone PC, it's very encouraging to note that meeting attendance is significantly improved, undoubtedly owing to the Centre's draw. The PEC is a commercial operation and they are entitled to impose whatever restrictions they choose upon us in the interests of safety, security, catering, etc. However, the Club is a subscription organisation and it does seem unfair to me that members might not be able to attend a meeting because of a restriction on numbers or because they've been unable to make a commitment to attend at least a week in advance. As Andy says, I think it's important to put the matter on the agenda for next month's meeting. Jeff

I would support Paul's original thought here re. direct contact. We need to be mindful that everything posted on the forum appears in the email inboxes of everyone who subscribes and elects to get alerts of messages, so it's not the most exciting thing to see a bunch of messages like that. Plus poor Paul's probably getting notified twice in some cases!

Exactly, Chris - thanks for the thought there. Jeff - I understand totally what you’re saying, but I’m afraid some flexibility and commitment would not go amiss - if you’d like to be part of the now unavoidable debate on this, I suggest you tell me if you’d like to attend the 5th April meeting, please, as you’ve not said if you’d like to come? (It’s possible it might not even be at the PEC at this rate[8|]) I would like to run this Region as an enthusiastic car owners Club and not get into too much pointless red tape, if possible - or the enjoyment is lost for me, personally.

A fair point, duly noted Chris. Whether or not you get alerts for every message posted does, of course, depend upon your individual set preferences. I would be interested to know however, just how many R10 members (including those present last Saturday) actually use the forum. Apologies Paul if I've caused you any unnecessary aggro, which has not been my intention, and I'm in total agreement that enjoyment of the Club by all members is the only thing that matters. Hopefully, we'll enjoy an interesting discussion at the April meeting (my attendance TBC Paul). Jeff

Hi Paul I've just sent you an email to attend. I've just paid my membership today!!!!! Looking forward to it. Gareth

Please inform me directly (as below), not just casually on the forum.
Thanks for your details Rob, but can you please inform via r10@porscheclubgb.com as requested above... Thank you.[:)]

Capacity for the April meeting has now been reached - thanks for everyone who contacted in advance, you will be on the door list[;)]

Next meeting is for Sat 7th June 2014 at Porsche Experience Centre. Make sure you contact as requested in advance if you’d like to attend, please..., ta[;)]
