Pointless options

Helens post on 'park distance..' set me thinking - anybody got options they wish they'd ommitted - or things the can't live without now?

Personally the two things I'm most pleased with are the air suspension and the heat reflective glass.

Personally, I think the Cayenne is pointless, (runs for cover).

Who in their right mind needs a huge, heavy, thirsty, powerful 4x4? Mind you I'm as guilty as anyone, we have an X5.

However, if you have to have one of these type of vehicles, park assist is actually very useful.

Really pointless is 'carbon fibre' effect trim. Also, 'privacy' glass is a bit unnecessary in this country. On a dull day the rear can feel quite oppressive. Of course, if you're a drug dealer......Oh, and 22" wheels!!!

Pointless = cup holders, but I'm b*ggered if I'll pay extra! to get them removed
(This relates to 996, perhaps they are more useful on a family Cayenne picnic machine.)

Worthy1 = sports exhaust
Worthy2 = sat nav

We got the comfort pack on the Cayenne, which includes the programmable remote garage door opener.

We have manual doors and gates with no plans to spend a ton of money having them upgraded.

So I guess this is pretty pointless!

But it came as a package with some handy lighting options, etc. So I'll just have to wait till we move to try it[&:]

Er, possibly your in the wrong forum Oliver, with an X5 shouldn't you be waiting for the tractor one - no sorry they're not that good off road either are they[]

However joking apart, do agree about the big wheels but the heat reflective glass (which is as dark as privacy glass) is much appreciated by the labradors.

And it will help the air-con to not struggle so much; I am reliably informed (by an A/C expert, who used to have a Cayenne) that the A/C is not really up to scratch !

Ive a cayenne V6 with the following:
Entry and drive, 18" cayenne design alloys, comfort pack, pcm, air suspension, sunroof, xenon lights, servotronic, heated seats and steering wheel, additional hanset, climate control, aluminium pack/entry guards blah blah. Some of the options i would not have chosen but the best for me is satnav, xenons and comfort pack. satnav is a must for me, xenons i think make the car look a lot better and the interior lighting with the comfort pack is just superb. I cant wait for the dark nights again! Heated steering wheel sounds pretty pointless but is great on a cold morning. Bigger wheels a must too - car looks daft with standard wheels.
Pointless options? Heated rear seats? Why? Because im single and have no kids!
I use my cupholders to put the car key in and my phone as well as the odd bottle of water! I had no choice over options on my car as i bought one of the first showroom models. The only option i wish i had was cruise control.

The person who told me said, that when travelling in Europe, on a hot day, the air-con partially shut down, as it was struglling to cope - the very time you need it !
He had a black Cayenne - shouldn't make a difference.

I'd have though this was an essential item for those 'special' moments. Unless a warm bonnet is your thing!
