Whats the best way to inform members whats going on in the region, forum or Porsche Post?

Nick

Both of the above are OK. However, I would think that most RO's have a Dist list of members that wish to be kept upto date by e mail.

agreed but this wouldn't necessarily give an indication of the popularity of events past and the attractiveness of future activities

Forum and email. Info has to be in Porsche Post well in advance if members are to be notified, in general the event will have already happened!
The problem with email is that only the RO is privie to the regional members lists. Ultimately the Forum is the best place. Its a case of encouraging members to make use of it ;)

Agreed - speed is of the essence.

All members with E mail addresses obviously have access to a computer. Perhaps it would be interesting to conduct a survey of those members of Region 6 with E mail addresses to establish how many of them also use the Forum - and of those people who do not use the Forum, to ask if there is a reason why they don't?

Arfor.

Arfor I have the forum setup to notify me if theres any new posts in a thread I am subscribed to. I have used forums from the early days of Internet Relay Chat when it was the font of all knowledge for Lotus owners.

I entirely agree that its the best medium but for club events we do need to see the diary in the Porsche Post too, sadly lacking for our area in recent months :(

A new area on the forum was under construction by the IT director where such Regional news and updates/info could be displayed.

Last news I had was that it had returned to Test Status[8|]

I think there are too many sub sections of the forum! Would be more lively if we frequented more general sections

Brendan would appear to keep our region very well informed of up and coming events as well as non region related via email. Obviously this is not the only means of spreading the word, however it's pretty instant.

The Porsche Post is historically acknowledged as being the main medium for communication. We just have to be organised and plan in advance. If this is done properly, information can be provided 2 or 3 months before the event. Diary dates should always be updated. Most instant is the e-mail, but if we wish to move to using the forum, members should be advised of this!
