Poor Part-Ex Offered By My OPC Against Cayman GTS 4.0

Hi All,

Just been offered by my OPC after nearly a years wait, a May build slot for a Cayman GTS 4.0.

As excited as I am about agreeing a purchase, I am very disappointed at the part-ex they are offering me.

I have a 2019 718 Cayman Base, Manual with 19k on the clock and they have only offered £34k, subject to revision nearer to delivery time. I have had a quick look on Webuyanycar and a few others and they are coming back in the range of £36.8k to £37.9k.

What do you guys think?

Any advice an getting a better deal?

Thanks in advance

Mark

I think you've answered your own question.

take the extra £from WBAC..accepting they will knock you down a few hundred £ on the day ..

One thing to take into consideration is that they will need to put an approved warranty on it at ~£2k. There are plenty of folk after well looked after Caymans so it may be worth putting it on Autotrader. Try Motorway for a price as well as WBAC. We sold our GLC on the friday and they collected it on the Monday. No knocking down on price when they turned up to collect it.

Good Luck

Dan

I agree with Dan. Try Motorway and Autotrader. I’d also ask around other OPC’s as I’ve heard different ones giving different offers. Of note I traded a MY21 GTS 4.0 in with Leeds and they gave me a really good value. Much better than anywhere else.

Be careful with WBAC. They are known for knocking chunks off the value when you come to trade in. Even 1 or 2 stone chips and they’ll say they need to respray.

Hi Mark

Par for the course in most all my dealings with an OPC, due in part to Porsche`s demands for how Used Approved stock is prepared and presented ... see attached note ... each item on the list is costed back to the sale from whichever department is involved. In addition there is tax - VAT for the OPC to cover ...

pp internet search

The VAT rate is calculated as a sixth of the profit margin. It's passed on to the customer in the price of the car but not itemised on the purchase invoice as it would be were they buying a new car. VAT on the selling price - some dealers may charge VAT at 20% on the price of a used car

During my last (recent) part exchange discussion the OPC kindly decided to ignore / overrule several areas where my car complied ... and would not even explain themselves. As with yourself, they came in a few £k under the internet companies

I am not making excuses for the OPC as no doubt many of the cars that third parties purchase for a higher sum end up with them

My overriding criticism during sales experiences with the three nearest OPC`s is their poor attitude and customer service [] ... no doubt my fault for expecting a service to match the product :ROFLMAO:

Ring the buyers at other OPCs and try ones out of your area. When I was selling my previous 718 I called all 5 OPCs in my area and it just so happened that the OPC supplying my GTS offered the most. It’s worth doing and takes a short phone call or an email. They’ll even come and collect the car.

Good advice, when I was looking to sell my first GT4 I checked OPC's stock before calling - one had 3 listed so I didn't bother with them

Some good advice there Mark. There are plenty of other options available to you, and surely the CGTS build-slot isn’t dependent upon a trade-in?

Jeff

I was offered nearly 3k less by an OPC vs WBAC on a mint low mileage car with full OPC service history and 2 years warranty remaining. Needless to say I am selling privately.

I would check this, my next car was dependent upon trade in and given the reducing slots for GTS cars it is worth being clear about the slot and it it does require a trade in. I was very happy with my dealer and the deal I had.

My OPC upped their offer to £36k for March. Will need to be re-valued mid to late May when new car is due.

They are happy for me to get the best price I can for my existing Cayman even if it means not Part-Ex'ing with them.

As other have said here, they can't compete with WBAC etc due to the 2 year warranty and standards they have to prep are car for resale.

Anyway, signed the order form for May production and hopefully get my new GTS by end of May.
