Hiya, sorry if this has been posted b4 but its playing on my mind as to what it could be, i have the S model and on startup(mornings and evenings or anytime its not been run for a few hours it hunts and when i move off it sometimes stalls which can be a ball ache it carries on hunting for about 10 mins till its fully warmed up then seems fine any ideas what is causing this, ive heard that S models do run a little rough from startup but surely not hunting (revs rising up and down for a while till full temp)....

cheers

May also be worth cleaning the ISV (idle stabiliser valve). My S2 was plagued with the same symptoms when cold for years until this was finally repleced.

The only trouble is its right underneath the intake manifold so either needs a mechanic with small hand or the intake to come off ££££££

Check under the inlet manifold - there's a Y adaptor in the feed between the manifold and the brake servo - this used to leak on mine and caused the same problem until warm for some reason http://www.cannell.co.uk/images/Cannell_web/944S%2011%206.jpg.

Also check the brown connector on the vapour purge valve that is wrapped in foam located approximately between the brake fluid resovoir and N/S strut tower in this picture http://www.cannell.co.uk/images/Cannell_web/944S%2013%209.jpg. Both of these have improved hunting during warm up in the past.

Further to that, your idle speed valve may be sticking. They need cleaning with something like carb cleaner spray. You may not be able to get it out without removing the inlet manifold, but you can direct some spray in to it by disconnecting one of the pipes. I wouldn't say the 944S is particularly bad during the warm up cycle.
