Poorly repaired scratch

A previous owner has at some point attempted to repair a 2 inch scratch on the front wing. This has left an excess of paint either side which stands proud of the surrounding area. Its also flat and a slightly different shade!

I want to have a go at repairing this myself and therefore want to remove as much of this paint as possible without damaging the surrounding are or any of the original paint underneath.

Any tried and tested tip / suggestions?
 
I saw something the other day that Mark Bennett posted on the forum for exactly this. Unfortunately I can't remember in which thread it was on. E-mail Mark direct, he's a very helpfull chap!
 
It might work - alhough it is SUPPOSED to be for fairly "new" touch up paint, I have heard it still works sometimes on old, suposedly cured paint.

Just be VERY careful, and don't apply any pressure!
