when should they pop up?

mine pop up on side/parking lights, but a turbo i sat in only pops up on dip?

i'm guessing mines been bodged.

ta. :) :) :) :)

I am guessing that it is about an 88 model. Some time in the 80s Europe were trying to push through legislation about sidelights and driving lights and reduced intensity for driving lights in urban environment. Porsche made the 944s of that time ready for this but for once in our entire history Britain said no to the legislation and kicked it back to Brussels. There is a bodge to fix it like I have done on mine. It is on here somewhere if you can get the search to work [:D] There are two things you need to do. Under the dash to the right of the steering wheel you will see a silver box aboput the size of a fag packet. Disconnect the plug to it and tape it up with insulating tape. Then remove the headlight relay and put it somewhere for safe keeping. You will then have to rewire the relay with suitable gauge wire and spade terminals. It's a bit late but I will post a pic of the wiring for you tomorrow (unless someone else finds it lol). Hey presto your lights will only pop up on full lights not sidelights. They will only go down when you turn them fully off though.

That's no problem mate. It was far too late and I had had too many lagers to search for it last night [;)]

Mine is 29 years old and his don't come up unless the lamps are on dip and doesn't appear to have been modded unless the work is 'inside' the relay - I've ran my battery out a number of times because of leaving the sidelights on overnight!

This is correct. When the lights have been modded if you have accidentally left the lights on beam they will not pop up till you switch it to dip.

ive had this before after doing the mod and not realising, spent ages messing around with the motor thinking it was knackered! doh!

Posting here because I don't want to clutter up the sticky thread "¦

I still can't get this mod to work. I've tried on and off for the past three years now.

I tried using bridging wires, as suggested. I also tried using a "˜relay' from a non dim-dip car (which should have exactly the same result). Neither works for me. I'm a bit confused, to be honest. No idea what the problem is. I've even sat the car beside someone else's who has done the mod and cross-checked that everything is exactly the same. No luck!

after reading everyone's problems with this i decided to take the lazy option and let the lights pop up on dip. lets you treat other road users to the novelty of pop up lights, plus the rain swirling about on the cover defying gravity gets to be quite mesmerising. [:D]
