Pop up lights not raising enough?

Elliot

New member
Have not had a lot of time to suss this one out yet but i am sorting out a guards red 924S and the following is niggling me

main lights sit fine when down ie alignment but when raised they are not raising sufficiently anddont appear to be catching as i can lift then to position easily

Is this an issue of a contact switch being worn or could it be the relay. However the lights go up and down on command

Any ideas would be great so i can save some time trying to work through the problems

cheers

How stupid do i feel

i checked the lights today

after i installed the new engine and rad i positioned the jubilee clip on the large hose to the right so that it ws catching on the mechanism!!!

stuuupiddd or what

Oops, if it makes you feel less stupid I once broke a windscreen on a car whilst changing windscreen wipers due to the arm springing out of my hands. Worse thing was did it on day I bought the car!! [] [:D]

I knew this guy once who spent a s**tload of dosh on a car and within two weeks decided that he didn't like it [:D]

Yes Rob and you let him spend that much!!!

Yeah right like I could have stopped him buying it right then!!! I did try my hardest to knock 500 quid off the bill. Give me marks for effort mate.

Well you're not the only one, Andy.
I had a 911 SC coupe last year that lasted less than 5 weeks.

Until some idiot sells it to his neighbour []

smiffyraf1 has just failed MOT for emissions. I suggested he may see if you have a AFM for an S he might loan/buy of you (if it does the trick) for his retest. I don't think the car has a cat does it? Would be my most likely culprit though. After a good servive that is.

We both haggled for discount - even tried for a full tank of fuel on the phone before I picked it up - didn't realise at that point 944's have such large fuel tanks so not surprised he said no!!

I can say with complete honesty I didn't get the 'haze' on this one. It's the first time I've bought a car totally with my head. Ok, I knew it was top money but for a car so sorted and a bit of warranty too it seemed worth it for a car I planned to keep. Didn't realise the heart strings would tug so much for a square dash though!!

Anyway, not had even a sniff of interest so maybe it will be staying a while - not complaining though, it is a lovely car and I do enjoy using her

Your dilemma reminds me of my old HiFi, My Mate was head of R&D for Quad, Wharfedale and Leek, I somehow ended up with a fantastic Quad setup with Rega Turntable, AVI Neutron II speakers and a handbuilt subwoofer (with audax driver and audiophile crossover).

But, it was so good it was boring...it could play any vinyl or CD thrown at it in a typically British warm and dry sound with no real excitement, I kept looking at what to change it for, but nothing would have been as good at sensible money..so I stuck with it for 8 years.

I ended up selling ll the electronics and replacing it with a Yamaha cinema surround setup, sonically far inferior, but with young kids much closer aligned to what we need..

But if I put a CD on...I miss the Quad

Jez I think you are driving the wrong car!! I know you love your turbo. You are not made of wood [:D] However I know how much driving you do in it and therefore you probably never use much boost at all!! The S2 would be great for your needs. Perhaps you and Andy should swap. Seriously!! And if you are after handling then trust me his car handles well.

Trust me, I use my boost! Having had 6 SAAB turbos and a Scooby I need to feed my torque wave addiction!

But funnily enough I did think exactly that, an S2 would be slightly more economical, which is why I have been watching the drop in 'S3' prices closely, although an ex-968 owning mate said that one would feel a bit flat after mine...
