The OPCs have been inviting people likely to buy a Gen 2 997 (!) to the above venue ....my turn was yesterday [:D]

For those interested have posted a brief write up on the existing thread 997 forum as the only cars you could drive were 997C2S with or without PDK auto boxes. Anyway got to talking with my in-car 'minder' , a German guy who drives Porsches for a living .His advice - hang on to your 964RSs , keep the kilometerage below 100k ,as the last of the 'traditional look' cars they are getting to be collected seriously.
I've got mixed feelings about that , I've increased km from 28000 to 72000 in 6 years and dont want to give up trackdays. So I guess my car wont be 'seriously collected ' ....except by some armco or tyrewall [:D]

Been preaching this for 8 years now, there is and will be no other 911 that gives the same FUN factor .... KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP THEM!

Not keen on hearing comments about limiting mileage...speedo watching (not bloody trunks!) just spoils the pleasure of ownership! Keep on driving them[;)][;)][;)] otherwise whats the point? You might as well buy "matchbox" version for the mantle piece[:(].

Spot on, Mat and Chris ... they were made to be used ... engine, gearbox and suspension refresh and you have a new car .... [:D]

While I totally agree with his views on keeping the car, I cannot agree with the km statement. Once you are over, say about 40k, you buy on condition, not mileage. I would rather buy a matching numbers car that had been subjected to a proper refresh that had done 120k than a 75k example that was all original.

No one seems to be bothered about how many miles 73 RS have on the clock.
Condition is King!

Music to my ears --- time will tell.
