Porkers in the Trough - 1st July

Depart 10am from Garstang Country Club PR3 1YE. PM me if you ned the full instructions emailing.
Regards
Alan

You are best contacting Sue or Mac McLeod (Porschefile Display Register) for full details but day starts at Garstang Golf and Country Hotel (09:30 would probably be a good time to get there - but don't quote me on that).
(Just seen Alan's post).
Cheers,

Here we are !!

The day starts at 9.00am onwards at Garstang (we will be there about 8.30). That gives plenty of time for meeting and greeting and breakfast before setting off.

We drove the route (again) yesterday and there were no problems. It was remarkably dry apart from some areas of run off from the hills. The weather forecast is not too bad so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Thanks all

as long as we know what time it starts and we are home for Euro final! Looking forward to the bacon barms!

So, 3rd Porkers concluded! Many thanks Mac and Sue, Fred and helpers. What a brilliant day.

Despite torrential rain as we were crafting our picnic at early o'clock on a Sunday morning and plenty of river like evidence of that in the Ribble valley, the weather was surprisingly kind! All star cast clearly reflecting the significance of the event, Mayor this year, surely a minor Royal is due next year... If Jamie is unavailable! Great to meet a PCGB director too, Brendan really upbeat and had so much great news for the Club.

Shame to get held up by Heney as we returned to Garstang but you can't have everything ;-)

A great day and well organised. A big thanks to all involved a credit to your region. Sorry we couldn't make the hotpot our two spaniels were getting a little restless!!!

Thanks to Sue & Mac for organising yet another great R18 event and their team of helpers.

Thanks also to everyone who took part in Porkers III and for those that travelled from Suffolk, Lincolshire, Yorkshire, Scotland, North East and Wales

The Lancashire Evening Post will be running the article in Tuesdays edition.

Planning for Porkers in the Trough IV will start next week.

Hi Sue & Mac & R18 crew
Many thanks for making us welcome and just to say how much we enjoyed the whole event, very well organised. Looking forward to meeting up again soon at the Silverstone Classic.
Regards Andy & Marian.

but its not waving!!

Good day yet again, thanks to everyone for putting on such a good event. Nice to meet brendan too who was like a breath of fresh air.

There's nothing wrong with being second rob....again [;)][:D]

Thanks to everyone who braved the summer weather to support Porkers in the Trough III. Thank goodness we don't all think our cars will dissolve in water! We were not sure who we were trying to convince when we told everyone that it would clear by lunchtime, but clear it did. Thankfully. In the three years we have been running this event there have been two drought warnings and it rained on both occasions, and on the other year the forecast was dreadful and the sun shone all day. Motto:- Keep calm and carry on and ignore the forecasters.
There were 70 cars parked at Farmer Parr's and 4 more Porsche drivers came along to join the Club - not a bad result for a couple of hours.

When David gave his speech yesterday he "joked" that planning for next year would start today. Believe it or not we have had a 'phone call from a possible mid-way venue offering us fantastic parking and marshalling for free, so we are looking into that already, and the road atlas has been found and scrutinised.

There were lots of positive comments about the route yesterday and how much people had enjoyed the different roads. If you come again all we can say is "You ain't seen nothing yet."

B - B - B- BABY!!! [:D][:D][:D]

Zeb, I was recently chatting with Mel (over dinner, naturally) and she said she definitely prefers it when you come second as she doesn't like you going too fast. She says you shouldn't try to keep up with me [;)]

Huge thanks to Mac and Sue and the rest of the Organising team and all the helpers, We all had a blast.
Great event and superbly organised well worth the trip down from Scotland and great that you
Arranged the weather so we felt right at home. :))

Ps Delighted also to win the dirtiest car of the event, now know why they call it Rainforest Green.
It obviously is designed to attract the dirt. :))

Cheers Al, Su , Jack and Bobby.

pps this is how it normally looks....

Her and Liz must have been conferring then because thats word for word what she said to me ....well I'll be damned ! [:D][;)]

It's all to do with colours - you like blue cars, I like white cars and they like 50 shades of grey [;)]

1/2 page article about Porkers in tonights Lancashire Evening Post.

Not many R18 memebrs on the pic though. Guess they were all having bacon butties inside

Mac & Sue and everybody involved in putting on the event, a huge thank you. These just keep getting better, next year should be awesome!!

To everybody that we met on the day, great to meet you all and thanks for making us feel so at home and for also for the nice comments on our new car.

Thanks too for the goody bag for family car, two years running. Do we get to keep the trophy outright if we win it next year!!

Finally I have put a number of short video clips from the bonnet cam on our YouTube site. We tried to get as many different cars as we could, yours may be on here somewhere. Follow this link:

www.youtube.com/europeandrivingtours

I'll put some more clips on here during the week along with a 3 minute montage to music to finish with. If anyone is sad enough to want the whole 2 hours worth, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Best wishes and thanks again,

Big thanks to Mac and Sue for another great day out. The early rain did nothing to dampen the spirits and the welcome was as warm as always. Nice to meet and chat with so many people who were all enjoying the day. Some superb scenery and great views, despite the best efforts of the rain gods.
It was very interesting chatting to Brendan and most enlightenning for me as it has at last given me some insight into some of the "goings on" that have been causing so mauch bad feeling over the last few years it HQ. Fortunately the club seems to work much better at regional and register level and Region 18 certainly seems to be a very good model for others to follow.
Apologies for my 944 failing to proceed with 50 yards to go to Farmer Parrs. I really tried to eke out the juice after the alternator decided to take a holiday. Big thanks to Mac for running round and to Simon from Porschapart for his offer of help. Fortunately Peter from the RAC - a very nice man - got me sorted out with a new regulator and brush pack and we finished the run. I think it's probably working better now than since I've had the car!!!
Once again your wonderful event was a great success and we hope to make it again next year, hopefully without embarassment!
All the best,

Thanks a lot.

Geoff and Maggy R12.
