Hi everyone , I have recently purchased another 944 S2 and it came with a set of 17 inch Cup alloys .

I am not sure if they are genuine alloys or not ? The rear alloys might be ? both front and rear alloys have part numbers stamped on the inside and small stamps on the outer part near the valve .

front are 7.5J ET65 and Rear are 9J ET55 17inch they have stamped on them Made in Italy

Can anyone shed any light on the Cup wheels please ??

I purchased a set of 18 inch split rim BBS so I am trying to sell the Cup wheels now .

Thank you

Genuine ones will have Porsche part numbers on the inside and width/offset embossed at the valves.

The Mille Miglia ones don't as far as I am aware.

With an ET 65 on the front the weel might look a little too far set in (by 13 mm) I had the misfortune to hit a stupidly narrow width restriction on the Marlow brigde and damaged a front beyond repair. The wheel was a 17 x 7.5 x et 52. The offset refers how big a difference there is between a theoretical zero offset datum, and the actual contact face of the wheel flange, so et 52 sits wider than et 65. by 13 mm. Et 65 is ok as long as the inner face doesn't rub. I have the same sort of italian wheel but with et 52 and I know that that one is not genuine because in the PET list I couldn't find a 17 x et 52 wheel unless I wanted to pay silly money for magnesium wheels. The cup one wheels on mine look great its a personal choice but I prefer them to the D90 and of course they are much easier to clean. Like hallsy said look for the part no, because IIrc my after market wheel has the offset on the back of one of the spokes.

Your wheels are genuine Porsche 911 (964) ones. So you should sell them for a good price. I had a similar set which i sold few years ago for 900€. I suppose if you wheels are in OK condition you should ask more.

Thanks for all your kind replies .

I have done further research and I believe the wheels are from a 968 Club Sport M030 Spec vehicle .

The rear wheels also match the part numbers for a 964 Turbo spec vehicle.

The part numbers on the wheels add up to the PET online part numbers .

Alloy wheel info as follows : Front wheel 7.5J X 17 ET 65 part number 965.362.124.05 year 1992

SL 600 Made in Italy

Rear alloys wheels 9JX17 ET55 part number 965.362.128.00 SL 485 Made in Italy year 1991

So am I right to say that some off the original Porsche wheels were made in Italy as well ??

Thank you

You are correct. Wheels are from 968. All 17" 968 had the same dimensions. 964 front wheel is a different size; 7".
I might be interested of your wheels; is it possible to you sell them to Finland ?

Once again thank you for all the kind replies .
I have struck a good deal with a local Porsche dealer , £810 plus two good front part worn tyres
for the 18inch BBS Classic ll that I am going to fit to my S2.
I think this is a fare price and I am happy with the deal .
He will get them refurbish and sell them on at a profit .

Do you mean you paid £810 plus your Cup 1's for the BBS wheels?? Surely not, but that's how I'm reading it, lol!!

I think he means the guy gave him £810 and two 18" tyres in exchange for his Cup 1's.

I would say you've been short changed. Cup 1's in the 968 off set, especially the 7.5 front are hard to find, I have seen sets advertised at £2k in good condition, my own set went to Holland for 4 figures.

I sold them as I felt the car drove better on the 16's, every other 944 has Cups on these days, original is the new modified [:D]

Edit

These have recently been listed, the part numbers in the description are identical to yours

The Cup 1's needed full Refurbishment , the centre caps were well worn and the tyres were mix matched .

I could not be bothered to have then Refurbished and so I felt that it was a fair price .

I bought a set of 18ich split rim BBS Classic II with the centre parts already refurbished in black and the outer lip in polished silver ,

I paid £350 plus £40 fuel to pick them up.

I got 2 mint part worn 6.7mm P Zero 225 40 18 for the front wheels as part of the deal and just trying to get hold of some decent rear tyres to complete the set.

I did like the Cup wheels and they did look good on the 944 S2 but I prefer the look of the BBS wheels.

Best bit is that I gave £2800 recently for my 1991 S2 Cab that came with the Cup wheels fitted , New roof full service history with only 86K
had complete recent full paint. Pinch Me :)

I am a happy Man :) I think the S2 has been stored for a long time and I will upload some pictures of the inner sills !! Like new

The man selling the S2 completely miss sold the car and put the car down . This sort of thing never happens to me !!

Last S2 I bought before this one had full recent 12 month ticket when I purchased it and it was rotten .When I sold it on ,
I gave a clear description advising that it need light restoration work to sills , and was then left yearning for another S2.

I will post a new thread on my new S2 soon once I fit the wheels , it is on axle stands in my garage at present.

Thank you
