Porsche 2 year service questions

It's hard to believe, but my pride and joy is due for her 2 year service in November. I'm also going to take out the 2 year extended warranty as I intend to keep her until I've seen the new 998 and made my mind up. As this is the first service I've had at the OPC in Swindon is there anything I need to ask/watch out for? The service and warranty is expensive enough without being fleeced for unwanted extras. Thanks guys.

Hi Kaz,

From my personal point of view I wouldn't be worried at all about OPC Swindon - my experiences of them have always been good and I find their service department to be excellent. As I said, only my personal view but I think you'll find it's shared by quite a few.

All the best, John

Only suggestion is to watch out for the usual 'brake pads and discs need replacing madam' to which I usually ask them if they do actually need doing.!

You'll need 2yr/20k mile service and brake fluid change - brake fluid is something daft like £156, my local BMW indi will do it for £40 !

You are probably already aware of this but the OPC should give you discount as a club member. Some people also suggest taking your own oil as OPC's seem to mark up the cost.

Of course if you intend renewing the warranty, they'll not take kindly to refusing any work they decide to recommend...

Surely your not suggesting some cynical reasoning behind the new warranty scheme, I am shocked:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

had my car serviced last week two year service took my own oil £20 for four litres mobil 1 + vat
forgot to ask for my porsche club discount still only come to £311

I had my 2 year service completed early as the car was saying it needed servicing.......had them check the car over as I'd not long got it and had 2 radiators and water pump (I think) along with the stone guards (which had yellowed) and the center caps on the wheels.......all under warranty.

I'll be going back for the brake fluid change in a couple of months and renewing the warranty for 2 years too as IIRC it saves about 10% ?

Big talk of a warranty price decrease!! Yes you heard correct, the price has dropped...
phew- mine due next month [:)]

Yes, by £60, to £1290, on a 997. Enough for a tank of fuel maybe..............

Had my 2nd service in May. I also had to renew the warranty but first -

List of work I had to have done before the new warranty would be provided.

Rear Main Seal Replaced - Again
Couple of Coil Packs

The above was replaced under its current warranty.

Had to replace front Discs and Pads at a cost of about £600.

To be fair the shims within the front callipers had fused to the callipers themselves which meant I also needed new front callipers. Porsche replaced these for me even though they are no under warranty would you believe!!

So, £2k lighter ...
