Porsche 911 - no longer exclusive?

Ever get the feeling your 997 just isn't quite as special as you hoped it would be?

Well it's probably not the way it drives (assuming it's been to see Chris Franklin [;)]) it's probably because of the plethora of current models as shown on the Porsche website:

A bewildering array from £67k to £171k (options extra). Oh and isn't there a special duck tail model missing in that list also (plus the gen1 GT2) - so that makes 24 variants!!

I am wondering if there is anywhere in the UK where seeing a Porsche 911 is now a rare thing - and there was me thinking there was a recession on [:D]

Yep, if we're talking 997 here, then anywhere west of Exeter!![:D] I've only seen one in months - and that's the red one in the garage.[;)]

Its not the number of models for sale which creates exclusivity Its the number sold

I agree - but they aren't going to create a whole new variant for just a handful of customers are they. Each will sell 1000s to 10s of 1000s.

-- so what you are saying is -> you see one every single day!! [:D][:D][:D]
I don't even see that one every day at this time of year! That said there will be a new kid on the block very soon in the shape of a (white - again!) Gen 1 turbo. Bring it on Paul and Tanya......[:D]

Common as muck in this neck of the woods, mate.

Everybody and their dog drives one!!! [&o] - even worst, Astons are 10 a penny too! [][]

Fezzas? - there's 3 in my village alone! [&:]

Waiting for Veyrons to come down a bit in price - just to outdo the neighbours! [8D]

Clive

Yes, sorry, forgot about the "posh" bit of Devon.[;)] I guess there are few around Salcombe too. A lot of Land Rovers in West Devon.......[&:]

There's not many 997s where I live...then again, we only got running water last year !....it's grim up North you know [:D]

I see plenty of new and exotic Porsches every day, but then I work around Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross. There are daily-driver Ferraris here, an Aston dealer up the road and even a Maybach taking an elderly chap to get his paper. The only car that's ever really got my attention was a Zonda, leaving the lights at full speed. As he was up on the next speed camera before hitting a gearchange it all seemed a bit pointless to me although a very nice noise indeed. [&:]

What get's me is that there are so many variations of 911, and plenty of limited editions. Why, then, do you all buy silver? I reckon 9 out of 10 are all painted to look like Mercedes. [8|]

Ahem! Excuse me but after the rash of red ones white now seems to be flavour of the month!

Bristol OPC have an ice blue (new colour) turbo in their showroom. Looks stunning. [8D]

The very reason why, after 9 new Porsches, my 'fun' car is now an old Ferrari. I could not accept astronomic depreciation and total lack of exculsivity. In future, my 'everyday' car will be a Porsche!
