Rosen,

Bodily, the change from 964 to 993 is not major - although it IS costly to do properly. I have one car on the 964 Register to which this has been done. One major question that might be worth asking is "Why?". Usually such a conversion is because of some accident that damaged the original beyond repair so it might be worth more investigation.

The change from a C4 gearbox to a C2 obviously eliminates the drive to the front wheels - and the same "Why?" question is worth asking. Eliminating the front drive has implications for the PDAS system in the C4 as well as what to do with the redundant bits - like the front differential and drive shafts etc. If they have been left in place much of the advantage of the conversion (a reduction in weight) has been lost. Doing a full conversion from C4 to C2 is likely to be VERY expensive and consequently, many conversions are NOT done fully.

You don't say if the car is for sale in the UK or Bulgaria, but £11,000 is not a great price given the conversion. If you want a C2 you might be better advised to find a real C2 for, perhaps, a little more money.

Dave

Thanks for the help
Seller says the car is made C2 because it is true Porsche. I asked whether damage. He told me no.Can i check whether the car has damage or something or irregular?
Thank you

Rosen,

In the myriad of discussions which have been repeated time after time on numerous forums on the subject of converting a C4 to a C2, the conclusion in all cases is - don't. There is no way to convert a C4 to a C2 without it costing more than the car is worth and the recommendation is always to sell the C4 and buy a C2.

If I were to even contemplate this car I would want to know what has happened to all the 4WD hardware, the traction control electronics (PDAS) and the accelerometers that control the PDAS and the ABS. I would also ask myself why someone would spend probably something in excess of £5-8000 converting a car which is worth less after conversion than it was before. The answer is often that the money had to be spent on repairing it anyway. The only way to tell is to get the car inspected by someone with experience.

I would walk away - as fast as you can.

Regards

Dave
