Hi, despite being a Porsche owner and member for 25 years, this is my first post. I was hoping someone can give me their view on the current situation I am in with my Porsch 991 Turbo S…. Earlier this month my engine management light came on and the car reverted to limp mode(warning stated it was ok to drive on) but I didn’t want to take any chances so immediately parked the car. I have OPC warranty so contacted Porsche assist who diagnosed that there was a high/low fuel pressure problem. The Porsche dealer initially stated they suspected the high fuel pressure pump needed replacing but said that they needed to inspect the fuel before they could proceed to conduct the work under warranty. They said they extracted some fuel and found it was contaminated. They are claiming the fuel dispensed from the Costco fuel station could have been contaminated. I have used the same fuel station for the past 3 years to fill up each week and have receipts to prove the correct fuel(premium unleaded) was used. I have raised this situation with Costco who provided substantial evidence to prove the fuel was not contaminated at the time of refuelling. I am aware there is a low pressure fuel pump that resides in the fuel tank. Is it possible that an oil leak the LPFP could have contaminated the fuel in the tank? I feel Porsche are trying to avoid replacing the HPFP under warranty. They have already charged me over £1000 just to get the fuel sent to a lab.
These are the current symptoms:-
1) The car idles rough
2) Car takes longer to start
3) The car stalls
4) Loss of power
5) Occasionally misfire
The car has been with Porsche West London for almost one month and I have lost total confidence on the technicians ability to competently diagnose and resolve this issue.
