Porsche 993 Insurance

Just thought I would give a heads up. I have just insured my 993 with Adrian Flux who have told me that my 1995 Carrera 4 now officially (so far as they are concerned) falls under the classic car category and as such I paid £181 fully comp for 12 months with the option to pay an extra £15 for agreed valuation. I have also declared the Fabspeed exhaust and lowered suspension modifications (I chose to limit mileage to 5000 per annum). They were very easy to deal with and very professional. May be worth a call if yours is up for renewal.

This may or may not be a good deal but my renewal notice was for £392, so I am well chuffed.

I am 53 yrs old and have no convictions, accidents and full NCB.

I have no links with Adrian Flux nor anything to gain by recommending them. Just letting members know.

Regards Steve

Yes, similar to what I pay for 95 C2. Just remember that you won't build up a no claims with a classic policy which might be an issue when used as an only car.

They seem to blow hot and cold, I have had insurance with them in the past as their quote was the lowest, they take alot of stick on Pistonheads though!

Did you get a quote from Classic line?

Haven't tried Classic line, maybe I'll give them a call at the next renewal date.

Thanks for the replies. Fortunately Robert, this is a second car for me and I have maximum NCB on both policies.

Regards Steve

Interesting, thanks for posting. I'll give them a try next time (unless my '97's not old enough).

Out of interest why are the exhaust and suspension defined as "modifications" ? I thought you would need to change the basic structure of the car fit it to be a mod eg; add a supercharger or weld in a cage.

Also speak to Hagerty who are excellent and give a very personal service.

My contact there is Phil but all the staff are very helpful [:)]

I think with any insurer you have to declare any changes to the car that do not constitute a direct replacement of parts.
My car has a Fabspeed exhaust and the suspension is adjustable coil overs which are not standard.
Pays to be honest so as to avoid any hassles if you have to claim, insurance companies (maybe not all) will try anything and everything to avoid paying out.

Another vote for Hagerty. Just renewed with them for the 7th year running.

On basis of original posters comment have just taken up a policy with Adrian Flux. His experience mirrors mine. Last year I paid £406 ( 66yoa, clean licence, 5K limit, no claims ) - they wanted £185. Bit of a no brainer really.

Andrew, glad someone has benefited from my original post. Seems there are a few good insurers out there, pays to shop around I guess.
