Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me if the chrono lap timer should light up when the lights are switch on as mine is off, I have silver dials that that turn black when driving at night and look great, I have googled this problem and some say they should, buts others have said these don't, and then some say you need to go to your local OPC to switch on via their lap top ? But are the meant to light up when driving, is there a bulb in there, and lastly how do you get in there to check the bulb or refit ?
regards

Pete

As Clive says, only when you're using the timer. I did have mine set at 9.11 seconds so it was always lit but it's normally dark.

Clive,
Can you reset through the on board computer to reset just when lights are switched on, or do I have to take it to the local opc ?
Not sure what tscaptain is on about but some helpful help is requested as I thought that this club was all about ?
Clive appreciate all you help in the past
regards

Pete

The light will only come on when you select the lap timer facility, it's nothing to do with the car lights, only on later 991s does it light up with the car's lights, as it is also used as an analogue clock.

Tscaptain was on about the fact that guitarplayer managed to stop the stopwatch exactly at 9.11 secs.
As SWS says above the stopwatch only lights up when using the timer facility through the PCM or control column stalk. Try starting the timer and see if the light comes on. If not then there is a fault but I doubt it would be the bulb as they normally get very little use!

Hi Guys,
Just to let you know I fired up the lap timer and left it at 9.30, couldn't get the 9.11, but anyway leaving it at 9.30 the chrono timer lights up with lights switched on ? what a stupid set up who would use a lap timer at night unless you are doing the 24 hour Lemans.
Thanks for your help, will talk to the local OPC to see what they have to say and let you know ?
Mike well done I may give it a go sometime !
regards

Pete

Does anyone know if it is at all possible to mod the 997 analogue dial to make it a useful clock like in the 991? Surely someone has sorted this out with a software tweak?
