Porsche Alarm - is it Thatcham?

I have a 1991 LHD 964 3.6. It has stickers on the window saying it has a Porsche immobiliser. I am reinsuring my car and they want documentary evidence it is a Thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser. As Thatcham ratings came in after 1993, I guess I will struggle here. I have spoken to several alarm fitters and they are sure it is but won't certify for me.

If it helps, my alarm remote is separate from my key and is a small circular device with an Opal (??) (the car company not the jewel!) like logo with a red LED one side, the writing on the back is faded although I can just make out the letters OLP1 LPD-A and the numbers 6109

If anyone has similar and can help me identify it, or advise how I could get certification I would appreciate it.

Many thanks

Your system sounds like a retro fit so try the following.
If you have a car security company near you that is VSIB approved take it to them and they should be able to inspect and tell you if it is thatcham approved, and issued required paperwork.

Has your alarm got a little key that you insert into the steering column prior to starting the car?

If so, the company I used said this was thatcham two only, not Thatcham one.

Don'y worry about the age of the system, if it was installed as a thatch one it will always be so.

Good luck

Rob

Mine is the stick type device that goes into the steering column, I went to my local OPC who validated it for me, maybe yours could do the same? cost me nowt BTW.

Sadly the really helpful guy at Reading OPC was able to confirm it wasn't Thatcham one, so I am now £350 poorer with a revolting looking alarm fob! But at least I have satisfied my delightful insurers <sigh>

Thanks for your help.
