I'm sure I've seen a special aftermarket tool available to pull off the centre caps ; does anyone know who supplies it? I know, I could take the wheels off but can I be bothered ? - No!

As a fellow East Sussex lazybones I find it difficult to understand why you have not told your partner, kids, or aged parent to do this menial task for you.

Or just bend a coat hanger into a U shape and fold over the ends by 90 degrees, which is essentially what the correct tool is.

I thought you lot from east sussex just got your butlers to do that sort of thing?

Try porscheshop or design 911 for UK sources. Failing that performance products in the US carry all sorts of stuff like that!

Thnaks everyone; esp Richard for telling me what I wanted to know. As for the rest of you:

SCZ - partner - NO, don't get me started on that one. Children - what, students?

Diver 944 - tried that, coat hanger I used was too bendy

Pikey7 - I would but he is too old and arthritic to get down to the wheels.

carlmthompson - yes I got that far!

I'll let you know the final result. The wheels are good but the centres are letting them down; so a refurb is planned in time for Brands

Simon - Jet the gadget and every time you park up you'll be able to nip round and get all yer crests pointing the right way up! [:D]

If you're gona go for new centres try eBay, you'll find some there. SEARCH: Wheel Centres Porsche

But watch out you go the right ones. If you vist - http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/ - tyres & wheels / wheel accessories - they list them by type. But hold on to your Credit Card!

A bit OT but within the scope of the heading:-

I've not been very taken with Porsches most recent wheels, having odd double spokes and strange triangular cut outs, but have you seen the wheels on the Caymen?[8D][8D][8D]. Dead Carrera GT rip offs. With the Caymen being so cheap, within a year or two, they should be as plentiful as Boxster wheels. But, will I like them quite so much when they are common?

The wheels on the GT look a bit retro to me? Ran out of ideas I think.

Well Clarkson recons that the Porsche design studio are the lasiest people in automotive design. [:D] Strangely enough they don't look too bad. :ROFLMAO:

Agree 100% with John; I lost interest in the Porsche wheels when the spokes went angled. I do like Rick's style 18's when the centres are dark and the CGT ones are nice.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Simon - Your thread has slipped a bit from Wheel Centres to Wheels but hey, I guess we cannot really consider one without the other!

I have to agree with previous comments. Wheels are unquestionably a big part of the overall appearance of the vehicle, and although I appreciate that I am somewhat biased, I think the original Fuchs very much suits the 3.2, and I wouldn't want to change them.

There are some seriously 'orrible looking wheels about at the moment, and I'm not just talking Porsche!

Personally, I particularly dislike those overstated, garish, bright, silver Wheels and Wheel Covers, which I think totally detract from the overall appearance of the vehicle. All you see, as the vehicle rolls past, is the WHEELS!

I've just changed my wheel centres and I removed old ones with an alun key (v. questionable spelling but you know what I mean!)[:)]
