Details below.

This is a fantastic family day out, and there will be a large Register presence. Please don't be put off by the Polo bit, as I was the first time, it's a great spectacle to have in the background. [:)]

Date ...... Saturday 5th September 2009 from 9am
Venue .... Kirtlington Polo Gounds OX5 3JQ

A one day event centred on the 'Middle Years' of Porsche production. 1974 - 1996
There will of couse be parking areas on field for Older and Newer models as well.

Cost... £10 per car, including all ocupants, on the day. If you prebook by cheque you will not only save £2 (£8) but also ensure that you get 'on field parking'. Some cars that pay on the day will get parking on the event field but when that is full parking will be in a Porsche area outide the main event.

What's happening?

A celebration of 'Middle year cars' with register displays.

A Concours. This will be the traditional one providing we get sufficiant entries.

2 Polo matches one of them between a Britsih side and a South American side.

The now traditional Porsche V Pony sprint races... They lead us 3 to 1.

Arena Activities..

Childrens area with some Fairground rides and bouncy castles.

Bar and food outlets.

Trade stands.

Hopefully something special from Porsche.

Childrens 'Pedal Kart Grand Prix'. organised by Bernie Ecclestone McGirl and team.

This event is sponsored by PORSCHESHOP and Porsche Cars GB.

We have had Gaydon for the rich kids and Hedingham for the chaps with pipes - this is OUR EVENT. Take it as being as near to a 3 line whip that we get in Porsche Club.

Paul will have his Register list and will be ticking off names [;)].

While the Polo may be something of a distraction I do commend it to the posse. Polo is an absolute magnet for top class totty. [8D]

The Rat Pack will be loose again and looking for more members - no secret handshake necessary.

Yes looks intriguing must admit previously the whole Polo bit has put me off. And another trip to Oxfordshire - can never have too many of those in a year ...[;)]

I believe that Hine Marketing are something to do with this event as they publish Kirtlington Polo Club's magazines as well as Porsche Post and are involved with a number of polo magazines as well as the running of KPC. As long as it brings them more revenue I'm sure it must be a good thing for them but personally I prefer to see club activities, magazines etc run as a non-profit thing.

By all means cover your costs including peoples' time but should club members be funding a commercial profit making venture such as a limited company. I would like to think my membership fees are going into the club and its activities, publications etc rather than an outside company. Surely with the membership we have there must be a more economic way to do things.

I know there are indies out there who would like to advertise in PP but the advertising costs through Hine are too high compared to magazines available in WH Smith. Surely for the members benefit there should be cheap advertising so we all benefit from knowing what indies, other trades, etc are available to us.

Sorry that I've rambled on here but I won't be going to this event because I don't want my money to go to a company that already profits from the club's members. My own personal opinion of course.

Sorry to say you are miles off the mark, yes Hine are involved in club business, but as no financial interest or gain from this event its a family fun day and an event based on middle year cars...

Hmmm, sounds interesting and it is not miles away from me. Where are the tickets available from?

Result! I'll get my bill in for NEC, Gaydon, Castles & Blenheim. Is it OK to put in an interim for Silverstone and Kirtlington yet? By the time the rest of the Board, and other volunteers, do the same I fear the resultant bill will be well on on the way towards 1 million if including those on the workers index. I had better get my bill in quick, so I'm at the front of the queue, as the Club certainly wont be able to afford to pay for everyone's time.

I'm not actually aware of Nick Hine having been at any of our meetings relative to Porsche & Polo - this is obviously assuming he isn't Geoff Ives or Barry Smith in disguise (a concept so unlikely as to be almost as daft as the initial assumption). :ROFLMAO:

Maybe it's because a bloke in Oxfordshire organises them all including Cotswold Rally and Frontrunners.

Now maybe you would like to organise a Suffolk Rally?[8|]

Nick Hine introduced me to the Kirtlington Polo Club quite a few years ago. The result has been a series of Porsche & Polo events that have been an assett to the Club anf from which Nick Hine has not made a penny.

Very true and very fine those events are too (I really enjoy them) as am sure the Polo one is as well (am hoping to go).

Plenty of folk have mooted the idea of holding events outside the usual zone (as per the discussion thread in the members only section about the Blenheim gathering). Also from that thread seems to be a fair amount of poo-pooing from the powers that be about that concept. [8|][&:]

Jon

If you would like to do a Rally in your area, have a word with me at Porsche & Polo and let's see if I can help.

Geoff

Gentlemen

Having attended the last few of these events, I can heartily recommend it for the family and you should take along a picnic and a few bottles of the fizzy variety(Oz stuff is fine).

Is it possible to pay on the day? I know this event has been talked about a lot in our region as those that have been in the past loved it. We have promised we would go if possible, there should be a fair sized contingent from down here attending but personally I/we always prefer to see what the weather will be.
