Porsche and Polo

Went along to this event yesterday, we had a great time looking at some great cars, along with the Polo there was quite a lot going on. It was clear to see the effort that had been put in by the club to ensure a good time was had by all. The one thing that they might want to consider relates to the parking. When I purchased the tickets in advance one of the benefits was supposed to be the ability to park within the main area. However when we arrived we were politely turned away and told that as we were in a modern car (996) we would have to park at the end of the Polo pitch.

This was some 150m away from the main Porsche display, whilst the walking was not that significant it did make the day a challenge as we had to walk from the car to see the display, then walk back to the car to collect lunch, to walk back to the car to put things back in the car, to walk back to see the rest of the display. Speaking to others there there was a feeling of being slightly excluded.

Whilst I understand that the principle point of the event was not the 996 etc, could we not of been allowed to park some where within the main arena to make a social event for all Porsche owners?

Hi David
When you set up an event it is difficult to work out how many cars you will have and of what vintage.
As this is a Polo ground there were areas that we could not use. We could have used the land on the far side of the fence but having used it in 2005 and 2006 we know that we would have had trouble with ruts in the surface and ground clearance on some of our cars.
We concidered parking on the other side of the road but thought this was the lesser of two evils.
Sorry David but we have to work with what we have.
