Porsche Approved Bodyshops ?

Sadly, my car is in need of the straightening services offered by the above after a self induced "off" involving a lamp post (see pic). Repair costs are therefore not important as it's an insurance job - my interest is how long it'll be off the road (it's my work car).

Considering what could have happened I don't think the damage is that bad, but the only Porsche approved bodyshop (Selbys) in Nottinghamshire (?) have said I'll be lucky to see my car again this year. As a result I was wondering if anyone knew of any other approved bodyshops within 60 miles or so who may have the capacity to do it sooner ?

.....& before anyone asks, the insurance company would give me a car IF I used one of their approved repairers. No prizes for guessing that Porsche's finest don't appear in the list [;)] - perhaps a consideration for those of you renewing insurance at the Mo.

Unfortunately, I would imagine that you are looking at six to eight weeks, not helped by the Christmas break.

The sooner you get it into a Porsche Approved bodyshop the better. They will need to assess the damage and get your insurers to approve it before they can start. December is a bad month for accidents, so you don't want to slip further down the queue.

You may need to rent or borrow something for the duration, if there is no loan car arrangement.

Check with Porsche GB that whoever you send it to is actually Porsche approved. My wife scraped the side of my Boxster and her insurance company (Privelige) recommended a repair shop in Wandsworth which they claimed was Porsche approved. I called the repair shop and they assured me they were Porsche approved. Having a suspicious nature and being concerned about my warranty, I contacted AFN at Chiwick who referred me to Reading who freferred me to Porsche GB. It turned out that the shop was not Porsche approved. When I called the body shop I was told they were insurance approved and the person I had spoken to previously must have "misunderstood" the situation.

BTW there was a 50% difference between two Porsche approved shops. One was over £3000 and the other £1500. Surprised me.

Another thing to be aware of is that being Porsche Approved doesn't guarantee a decent job despite the "Guarantee."

I had a December prang and it was February before I drove the car again. It took a further 2 visits to have faults rectified and I ended up with more scratches then when the car went in.

It also took them three attempts before the repair details on the "lifetime guarantee" actually matched what was repaired!

JCB..

[]No wonder Porsche Approved Repairers have to charge much more than non approved who can often do a fantastic job straight out the gun so as to speak :ROFLMAO: I once used an approved Porsche Repairer for a rear 1/4 small dent and spray job and like JCB car had to go in twice!! Car was left at bodyshop for 2 weeks whilst I was away so they had plenty of time to sort this small problem. Collected car and rejected work as it had fish eye finish!! Then had to go and collect again days later after it had been resprayed for a 2nd time. Very disappointing to say the least considering facilities and costs compared to a normal bodyshop. Which shows at the the end of the day its down to the man doing the actual job that really matters [&o]
