My Boxster goes for its first MOT and 111-point check on Friday so I can take out the Porsche Approved Warranty. I asked my local OPC for the warranty policy details and those of Porsche Assistance. They have presented me with the booklet again. I expected a more "complete" policy document, but is the booklet all there is?

It's all I've ever got [&:](You do mean the booklet with the space for the car details and dealer stamp in the front?)

And thats the same booklet with all the exclusions written on the right hand side of what seems like every page....

But hey, its cheaper than a new engine...

When you say again do you mean you already have the extended warranty? If you do, then you do not need a 111-point check i.e. they will simply renew the existing one... The booklet being described is the only one I have too.

Yes, I do mean the booklet with the space in the front for details. When I say "again", I enquired earlier in the year and was given the booklet, but this is the first time I will be taking the warranty: I've been fortunate that the car is a company car - any "warranty" work in yr 3 was picked up my employer, so the 111-pt check is necessary. It still irks that there is only a 2yr warranty though.

Do you refer to the waranty that can be purchased thru the Porsche Agent?
If so we call it an extended waranty and pay about A$ 1550 for the 12 mths.
I'm considering renewing the one that came with the '03 I purchased this Jan. However, I would like to opinions as to whether it is worthwhile as the car has only done 26000kms. and I average about 12000kms per year. My driving is mostly in the country at highway speeds and the car is well cared for.
Cheers,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,
See this post I had put on the 996 sub-forum on why it is probably more important to get an extended warranty if you are doing very low mileage (kilometreage [;)]):
http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/m.asp?m=218281

If you have time, read all the postings there as most seem to agree that the car is more trouble if not driven regularly.

Happy to report the car passed its MOT and the 111-pt check, so now I'm the best part of a grand lighter, and the car is tucked up with its Porshce Approved Warranty for the next 12 months. For info, since mileage driven seems to be raised as a parameter, I cover 13-14k miles per year in it.

Anyway, a curious thing is that the disclaimer on the 111-pt check is that it doesn't garauntee a fault free car, which is what I thought the Insurer wanted to know before providing the warranty. I guess this is one of those paradox thingys. At least it would highlight any major faults, leaks, wheels missing, etc..., and does provide me with some satisfaction the car is worth buying off the lease now.
