hi im new to all this, ive been told to talk to richard hamilton, ive just bought a porsche boxster 2.5 99 model, stolen recovered with no keys, ive had a blade cut so i can move it around but cant start it,problem ive got is that it needs to go for a vic check to get the logbook, but the dealers wont program a key without proof of ownership, all i have is reciept from salvage yard, would i be able to change the alarm control box and keys from a porsche breaker or does anybody know anybody that could program a key for me,help!!!!

Richard is away until Wednesday.

I suspect you are going to have to trailer the car to get the VIN check done. AFAIK, the immobiliser is part of the ECU, not the alarm & by all accounts you would have to virtually take the car apart to change that.
Porsche are the only people who can code the key & it's all done by linking up the car to a computer in Germany. I don't think there's any other way & that's why cars get stolen with the keys these days.

I think the immobiliser is part of the Alarm control unit found under the passenger seat. This can be changed as it often goes wrong/gets wet.

Just popped in to an internet cafe!

The immobiliser is built in to the alarm system. The DME (ECU) is also coded with an immobiliser code to match the alarm control module. The alarm module is programmed with the key transponder (and the remote) codes.

If you change the alarm module you will have to change the DME as well, so that the immobiliser codes match.

You can buy a new transponder and remote, but to program them you need the vehicle IPAS security codes from Porsche, which they record with the VIN details. Once you have these codes you can program the alarm module with a PST2 or PIWIS tester. A good independent should be able to get the codes and do the programming, or you can take it to an OPC, but as you say they need proof of ownership.

thanks richard that was the answer i was looking for,so as long as i change ecu, alarm control unit, and the transponder ring and keys off the same car it will run, thanx again

You might want to get the VIN of the donor vehicle too. You would need it to get the security codes if you wanted to add key remotes, transponders, or make any changes in the future.
