Porsche car audio systems

Firstly, Nokia Digital Audio, a speaker control unit inside the drivers door flap. What's it all about, other than as a speaker balance control.

Secondly, I've seen some 933's with flush speakers in door, where carpeted pocket is over speaker, others with larger speakers which protrude out forming part of the carpeted door pocket.........what's the difference. I assume that bigger is better but its difficult to tell without comparing with same head units.

Thanks, Neil

The flush speakers are the standard fit, the larger protruding ones are part of the '10 speaker sound system' that was a factory-fitted optional extra. According to my October '95 price list the cost of this upgrade was a staggering £750.00!!!!!!

Having not had a good listen to the upgrade pack I couldn't really comment on the sound quality, however my standard speakers (also made by Nokia) are sonically awful.

You can obtain excellent replacement speakers from Halfords (Infinity or JBL both make retro-fit speakers that are exactly the right size) for around a hundred quid for the rears and fronts together. This is what I did and they now sound fine.

mine has the "upgrade" quality is not good. try a search on these forums for nokia audio for full details, anyone know suitable replacements for 10 speaker system for my cabriolet (although I can only find 8) also mine does not have the knob in the pocket
