The Porsche Cars website has a resource where, if you find that a 924 part is not available from Porsche or a specialist source, you can tell Porsche that you are looking for it.
It is done on a anonymous basis so Porsche are probably looking for trends and feasibility, so the more of us that are aware of and use the service the better.

Thanks for identifying the site, what a great idea for both Porsche and its customers.

Any decent OPC parts manager should be logging demand of NLA parts too. They can also send a specific request to Germany beyond just accepting the computer initially saying no. Remember Porsche recommission manufacturing of OEM quality parts when a demand is identified. Generic and specialist Parts suppliers do not. Support your Porsche by supporting OPC where possible.

I agree Steve, I have been calling my OPC first to order parts, it's a lovely thing to get shiny new bits and pieces for the car and seeing them on the car [:)]

Great idea, I have just filled in a request for a 924 calliper seal kit, which I told is now NLA.

I think there needs to be some selectivity here.

It is nice to have Porsche remanufacturing parts for the 924 (and others), but surely it is better to direct them to manufacturing parts that are unique to the model. Things like calliper seal kits, which are common to other cars and readily available from specialist brake part suppliers, master and wheel cylinders, brake hoses etc, would only be sourced from a similar supplier and packaged as Porsche. Similarly other Audi and VW sourced components.

Transaxle and engine components, hoses, water and vacuum, ignition and fuel components and so on are far more important in keeping cars on the road and lack of these are often the cause of premature death of a car.

+1

Agreed, but I failed to find seal kits at my regular aftermarket suppliers and OPC. Suggestions welcome.

Mea Culpa ... a bit of further internet digging did indeed turn up a kit at Brakes International. Should have thought to look there first. I rather doubt that the great Porsche juggernaut will be overly influenced by my request anyway.

Agreed John, great that you used the service; and if others use it then the juggernaut will release the handbrake.
Have you checked through the list of remanufactured parts that I put on the forum recently, there were a couple of brake kits listed, not sure if they were for your model.
