Porsche Cayenne spare wheel

Hi all.

has anyone got for sale (any condition) - a space saver wheel for my Cayenne 2005 3.2 Tiptronic S (17")

Would prefer Midlands but........

I was lucky enough to pick up the 18" version from another Club member but expected to have to buy on eBay, where there are always a few. They make quite good money. There's currently a 17" with a breaker in Daventry at £120. He's asking £15 for carriage, but that sounds like the Midlands to me! There seem to be more 18" ones at present and you could presumably use one of those..... Good luck.

The 17" was only used on the Cayenne V6, The 18" was the spec'd option for the Cayenne S and Turbo as it was required for clearance with the bigger calipers used on these two models versus the V6. I have never heard of any one using the 18" on the V6, however as caliper clearance should be ok, just check all the other dimensions

Wise words - I noticed that one of the 17" wheels listed said the stud pattern was 5 x 120, which seemed wrong, as I knew that the Cayenne spare I bought for my Touareg 3.0 Tdi was 5 x 130. I had thought all the Cayenne/Touareg/Q7 variants shared many of the parts, including spare wheels. There's a very good website (Wheel-Size.com) which lists wheel sizes for virtually all makes, models and even by market e.g. US/EU/Japan. According to that all Cayennes are 5 x 130 (what a surprise for a Porsche!), as are all Touaregs, except for the early 2.5 Tdi version which was 5 x 120. So there will be a number of VAG spare wheels out there which won't fit a Cayenne. I didn't bother to check for the Q7. So if the part number starts 7L6601 it's 5 x 120. No idea of the number for a 17" with 5 x 130 (if there is one), but the 18" 5 x 130 starts 7L0601 and the number's the same as the 7L6601 thereafter, i.e. 027A. That website also has a calculator for comparing dimensions. It reckons that 195/75/18 is only 6 mm larger in overall diameter than the 195/80/17, so a negligible difference of 0.8% particularly for an emergency spare. It also compares rim offsets.

For what it is worth, I have just gone down this road. As far as I can tell, all the collapsible tyre spare wheels are produced by Vredestein and are known as 'Spacemaster'. They appear to produce the same 18" part for Cayenne, Q5, Q7, Touareg and MB R. They also list a 19" one for the Cayenne Turbo. Porsche only list the 18" and 19" in the copy of the parts list that I have. The 19" is intended for the cars with PCCB (carbon brakes) and , by the way, will require the strut that holds up the spare wheel cover to be removed from the car. Porsche appear to have no requirement for a 17" collapsible tyred spare wheel and Vredestein themselves do not list a 17" for the Cayenne.

I purchased (via ebay) an 18" one from a Q7. They seem to be cheaper than ones that have come from Cayennes - the Porsche price factor? I paid £130. My local OPC wanted £443.24 + VAT for a 19"! The one that I bought has never been used. I was also able to buy from ebay a complete set of jack and tools so am now fully equipped to change a wheel, plus, of course, I can still destroy a tyre with goo - should I be so inclined.

Just a sort of anoraky, nit-picking point. If you use the word 'Spacesaver' then you may well be offered something completely different.
