PORSCHE CENTRE BOLTON FIRE

Terrible news. I really feel for the team there who are working so hard whilst major renovations take place at the showroom.

The reports suggest deliberate arson. The only saving grace appears to be that nobody has been hurt.

Very sad.
 
Yes agree with all that ,Rob-spoke to them both yesterday & this morning as I have some parts on order-they still hadn't been allowed back in the building because of forensic work .
Spares dept OK but smoke ingress .
Expressed my sentiments & left them to sort out when they can.
 
Hi , not really active member on Forum trying to post as open note. , But our 991 Turbo S ,was in workshop at Porsche Bolton for small warranty repair, the passenger window was left open. Car is beliieved to be heavily comtaminated internally, could be toast! Would like to hear from other owners affected as like to know of there experiences with Pendragon Group regarding way to proceed claim for car loss! Any advice from people legally minded appreciated or affected big help.

I had something similar happen to me a while back; a long story but the Garage is responsible for your car whilst in their care... I guess the question is, is it repairable? If yes, they may care of that for you.

Slightly difference circumstance, but I spoke with a chap before and his car was written off. However he was able to buy it back, had some of the damaged repaired professionally and the other work he undertook himself. The car would be recorded as having been written off as a cat D or N under under the new systems.
I would guess the guys at Porsche will try to do their best for you, hopefully you will be back on the road soon.

I have a slightly different scenario. Put down deposit on a GT3 With part exchange on my GTS. Been waiting for a couple of months to take delivery while the parts came in and then complete exchange. Car was in the unit and based on the conversations with the guys at the dealership the combination of fire and chemicals means it’s a gonner.

In my situation there isn’t much they can do unless I can find the right spec that I am after other than give me my deposit back to be honest and work with me to source another car.

So so I am lucky in one sense as I still have my GTS unlike a lot of other customers who have lost their pride and joys.

Feel for the guys guys at Bolton too and they appear to be working hard on helping most customers in the best way they can but it’s such a unique set of circumstances it may take some time to put right.
 
Thanks David , popped in today to look at car .now outside workshop , very sad sight , soot and smoke damage everywhere, inside owners handbook , closed glovebox !! , think driven this one last time, 2 years super ownership. Dealership so far looking after us , but will see how goes, Looking for next car but really low with loss, Feel sorry for other owners , new, classic and staff and technicians who lost so much also.

Thanks for your reply . looked at mine today, Carnt believe how far smoke has penetrated , handbook in folder , in glovebox badly smoke contaminated , rest car even worse , no amount valeting or detailing would fix, so driven last time last Monday Am. Had 2 years really good ownership , best Porsche so far, The search starts for replacement, Hope you source GT3. Tough time for staff good team they must be gutted with whats happened.

Hi Martin,
sorry to hear the car is so bad, I'm guessing it will be written off. If there is no heat / chemical / paint damage and only smoke, it might be possible for a independent specialist to take the time to repair it utilising second hand parts? If that isn't something you want to take on, then you will have to start looking for a new car.

Do feel sorry for the staff, just happy that no one there has been serious hurt (as far as I know) or worse..
