Porsche Centre Teesside - A Breath of Fresh Air

As most of you know that follow the forum, attend the R3 monthly meetings or did the Whitby fish and chip run we have a new Porsche center in the area. These guys and girls seemed to have taken R3 to their hearts and have been to a number of our meetings. We have also had the privilege of being shown around their huge new premises (when empty). Having met Tim and Ross at the last R3 meeting, it is clear they have a passion for the brand and are keen to be involved with the club. At the meeting I told Tim and Ross that my car was due for a service and I was keen to get it done ASAP. They said book it in and we’ll look after you. So true to my word, I did.

The car was booked in for Saturday 1st of July and I had a number of calls with the service staff of what I was after and the car was booked in. However due to unforeseen circumstances (hospital appointment on a Saturday) I needed to move the service later in the day. I spoke to Tim (service manager) and he explained that there probably wouldn’t be enough time to service the car if I left it until after 10.30. He then suggested that if I could drop the car off on Friday lunch time and they would lend me a courtesy car and have my car ready for Saturday morning (happy days).

So, it’s Friday and I turn up at Teesside Porsche, walk in the door and Adam Pearson (sales advisor) is there to greet me with a warm friendly welcome and an offer of a warm beverage. After sitting down with Adam for 10 mins or so sorting out paper work and my instructions of what to do and not to do with my car, we then inspected my car before the handover. Now this part is very important to me as many of you know, I don’t like my car damaged (who does) by a garage when it is handed back to me. Unfortunately I’ve had one or two experiences of this which have been well documented. Having an inspection done by the garage prior to hand over puts us on a level playing field and stops any ambiguity when picking the car back up. Some specialist Porsche garages in the area could learn from this.

Paperwork done and now it’s time for the courtesy car, what will I get? Adam points to a fully loaded Cayenne S in the corner. Adam kindly showed me all the controls and how PDK worked (loved it) as I had never driven an automatic before. I really wanted to hate Cayenne but I loved every minute of it and would love one as a day to day car if I needed one. Who knew you could have so much fun in something so big. Having got back to the office, there was a video email waiting for me with an inspection of the underside of the car/brakes/engine etc. No faults and it is good to see it looking in perfect order.

Saturday arrives and I get a courtesy call from Teesside telling me my car is ready to be picked up. We arrived and were greeted by Jennifer Welsh (Workshop Controller) who took the time to go through the service and what had been done and any additional work that may need doing (there wasn’t any). I also got a free geometry check which was also spot on. Jennifer then took us to our car and made sure we were happy with it before we left. Car was unwashed (as per my instructions) and was exactly in the same condition as when I handed it over. Jennifer was also happy for me to go back in to the show room and take snaps of some of the very rare cars they currently have in the show room (see below).

All in all a fantastic experience all round and I won’t hesitate to take my pride and joy back to them. They could not have looked after me or the car any better.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the feedback regarding Porsche Teeside and will be booking our car with them at the start of September, before the EWOTY.

Good to see you are a pdk "convert" now, lol.

You nd DaveC gave me stick for driving an "automatic" but it's an amazing bit of kit, as you discovered.

Still prefer a manual though :)

Having just had my car in for a service at Porsche Teeside, I would agree with Marks comments. We could not have been looked after any better, super customer service, courtesy cars provided, as needed spark plugs and a CV boot renewing, which had to be ordered. Had a Cayman S and as the garage needed the Cayman for another customer, a Macan S was delivered to our home the following day to exchange the vehicles, so no hassle for us. Car valeted inside and out, great job, saved me doing it for todays run! Loved both cars, who wouldn't!! Automatic was good, however, still prefer manual.
