Porsche Dealership and 1st Registration (in 1996)

My C2 was first registered in March 1996, and the copy V5 which I have, shows a Porsche Dealership as the 1st 'keeper'. 6 months later the car was sold to a private individual, who then became the 2nd keeper.

Would anyone know whether in 1996 it was the usual practice (a requirement of UK import law or Porsche Head Office or similar?) for a Dealership to adopt this approach? I wondered whether they bought the car as a demonstrator from the Factory?

Sadly the original dealership no longer exists, and there are no service or other maintenance records in my file for this very early stage. I am hoping to hear from the 2nd keeper, who may be able to shed some light on this - but in reality its a bit of a long shot for this to happen. I'm just interested in piecing together some of the earliest history of the car.

Any thoughts Forum Members may have would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Was it an OPC?

If so, presumably it was registered as a 'demonstrator', or 'management' vehicle.

There used to be a beneficial vat allowance that required 6 months ownership to qualify, IIRC.
