Porsche Delivery Charge for new car.

Is it usual practice for an OPC to apply a delivery charge ( to the OPC only) for a non-stock new car?

I am based in the Isle of Man and so I appreciate that there is a cost in getting the car from the UK to here however, I was a bit shocked to see that Porsche charged for delivery in general. I kind of assumed that this was factored into the UK price of the car.

Thanks

Neil

Do you mean OTR costs? These are on top of the Porsche configurator prices and would include first year Vehicle Tax, DVLA registration fees and registartion plates etc. So it depends what you're referring to as a "delivery charge"...

No , not the usual registration fee , road tax etc. This is a specific delivery charge for getting the vehicle to the OPC. As I said ,I would have expected Porsche to cover the costs of this to a UK OPC but as its my first new car I am in the dark.

Doesn't sound normal to me. My GT4 had £2,014 added by the dealer:

£1,910 first year Vehicle Tax

£55 DVLA first registration fee

The final £49 I assume was for number plates and a bit of fuel.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have all those costs as well and so I'll need to get to the bottom of it.

Neil,

I think you’ll have to direct the question to your dealer for a definitive answer. Maybe there are additional transportation costs involved in shipping the car from the mainland to the Isle of Man?

Jeff

Yes Jeff there are , usually about £300ish for an unaccompanied vehicle to be placed on the ferry. I can only assume there are specific non-inclusive transportation costs from UK point of origin . Anyway , my question has been answered in that this is specific regional issue and not something that would apply to a UK OPC.

Neil

Neil,

No separate delivery charge made on the mainland.

I assume your PC previously raised an order and invoice for you to sign and if the delivery costs were undisclosed at that stage, then I think you have every right to appeal against paying them now. Be polite but firm, I would suggest! [;)]
